Proposal Van - Col

Recommended Posts

So Col has 3 current excellent young centericemen and we hear they are looking to add to their D all the while moving out ROR in all likelihood. If they were to keep Duchene as #1 C and ROR as #2 C could we somehow pull out one Nathan McKinnon? I Know it would take a huge package to do it and Col would only consider if we blew their socks off. Would Virtanen, Tanev and ??? Be enough? The and something I presume would be a pick of some sort. Would it cost a 1st or 2nd or maybe a shikaruk and a 2nd? Demko perhaps if we're happy going with Markstrom in our system? I Know Virtanen can be very very good but McKinnon could be a generational player.

ROR will be a UFA at the end of next season. He has already had two "difficult" contract negotiations, and seems primarily concerned with getting as much money as possible. He may simply walk out the door in 17 months.

So why exactly would we trade a guy like Virtanen for him? A player who has grown up cheering for Vancouver, and will probably bend over backwards to be part of the team for as long as possible?

ManUTD will be in here momentarily to tell you why and how this is a bad trade.

But suffice to say ROR is practically pricing himself out of Colorado, they have a shot at a top 10 pick or even lottery win and Sakic would most likely tie you to a tree and snap wristers at you for an hour instead of entertaining that deal.

McKinnon in ANY deal is a non starter for pure and obvious reasons

MacKinnon appears he will be at least a Tavares / Stamkos calibre player. And is still on his ELC.

Really there is no reason, short of having your great uncle Harry but the Avalanche for at least $50 mill over market value, then doing a ''family deal'' for it to happen. And even then...
