TheRussianRocket.
Chris Higgins [$2.500M x 3, UFA] - 31 years old - LW/RW Emerson Etem [$0.870M x 1, RFA] - 22 years old - RW/C/ Etem has been outperformed by DSP and lost his roster spot. That plus he has underperformed on the Ducks when given the chance. Ducks have redundant wingers but lack a guy of the calibre of Higgins. Only guy is Beleskey (besides Perry) and the rest are just fill in guys that don't have much skill. Anaheim is in a win now mode and this deal would help them a lot more than if they didn't do it. Higgy gives them versatility and can slot in right away with Kesler giving immediate support and moves close to Vancouver so his family can stay here for the time being and not have to worry about that. Etem also has history with Willie & Shinkaruk in his days in Medicine Hat where him and Hunter did some amazing things. Benning gets the team 10 years younger adding to the on the fly retool. Ducks cap space: $5.440M. After deal: $3.81M Canucks cap space: $1.363M. After deal: $2.993M Daniel | Henrik | Vrbata Matthias | Bonino | Etem Burrows | Richardson | Hansen Kenins | Horvat | Dorsett Kassian, Vey Edler | Tanev Hamhuis | Bieksa Stanton | Clendening Sbisa, Weber, Corrado Miller | Lack Markstrom

HowYaDrouin
I couldn't imagine any situation in which ANA would want to do that trade.

Plum
Maroon-Getzlaf-Perry Beleskey-Kesler-Palmieri Cogliano-Rakell-Silfverberg Smith-Pelly-Thompson-Jackman Bourque Can't see Etem fitting anywhere next season, maybe get rid of Jackman and find a spot in the line-up for Etem because I bet Anaheim doesn't want to get rid of Etem without giving him a good long final shot. Jackman and Beleskey are the only FWD UFAs for Anaheim, Beleskey is having a career year and will re-sign I bet. Jackman is the only one, he's a 4th liner if Etem takes his spot then Bourque is sitting in the pressbox assuming no trades? That's a 3 million cap hit. I think Anaheim can manage fitting Etem in but they'll have to move some bodies, not re-sign Jackman, trade Bourque, sign a depth forward and that should be good. Etem is possible though if Anaheim doesn't see him fitting in their plans and I'll take a chance with his skill-set.

Etem ain't a top 6 sniper at all...I just put him there to see how he'd do, most likely would be demoted to the A

Odd.
I betcha if Emerson Etem was traded to us, he'll be in our top 6 and 1 PP time until it chokes up in the meantime. That Willie D connection/Medicine Hat tiger connection. Shinkaruk/Etem/Vey As for the trade, Anaheim wouldn't do that however the thought of Etem slipping down the chart does open a lot of teams views on him. D-Money
I expect Anaheim to use trade chips soon, but it will be for a much better player than Higgins. The Pacific is abnormally weak this year, and ripe for the picking. Whereas the Central will be a dogfight, and whoever comes out of it will be pretty worn down by the conference finals. Two/three of: Etem, Rakell, Smith-Pelley, Theodore, Silfverberg, Petterson, Kerdiles, Ritchie, 2015 1st - that could likely land almost any available player in the league. Rumours are they want the big D-man, and are targeting Myers. If Etem is not part of that package, he'll likely be used to fill in the forward roster spot of whoever was. Derp...
Maybe you can move Vrbata for Etem and their 1st, but I don't think we would do that until next offseason

Honeydew
Seeing how this trade doesn't really benefit Anaheim at all.... like everyone's saying I'm pretty sure they're going to do a package deal with a lower end team to get some of their vets to push them over the top for a run to the cup. Etem/Theodore/2nd or 1st to Buffalo for Tyler Myers + Prospect/Pick Honestly, If Anaheim wanted they could actually land someone that can literally put them over the top since they have at least 4.5 Mill in capspace with some capdumps of Rene Bourque they could go and fetch someone from a cap strapped team that needs to unload a big contract. Wiznac
I would love to have Etem in our system .. I watched him in his last year on medicine hat and even though the royals beat them 5-4 he scored all four goals 2 even 1 power play 1 short handed .... Looked like a man among boys

Warhippy
Etem is someone I've wanted since we drafted Shinkaruk. But with rumours of Myers possibly going to Anaheim I can't see Anaheim doing anything right now to get older. If you made it Higgins + it's possible as they could flip that + in that trade. But as many people have said I don't think it's enough alone.

There's not place in your listed roster for Etem (though he's 22 and could break through) but there's no place for Higgins, either. The other thing about this trade is that it appears unlikely Higgins is the best offer Anaheim could get-either in total value or based on their needs. Yeah good point so I think we'd have to give up a 3rd rounder in 2016 or other pick(s)/prospect(s).
Canuck Surfer
My personal opinion is Etem wil get either one of two things; - traded in a bigger trade than for Higgins. example the rumoured Etem, Theodore and first for Myers. - Because Anaheim will trade guys for someone like Myers > therefore spots open up on Anaheim! Bottom line is I believe The Ducks will try and make a bigger splash than Higgins. And it will open a door in one way or another for Etem. Barring that I think you need to add something to Higgins to command Etem. A 2knd seems right, although we're ''not giving up picks." Kenins and Higgins? 2inthecup
How bout Kassian for Etem. Both are you underperforming young power forwards. Both have 6 points in the same amount of games. We get the younger one they get the bigger one. Can someone confirm if Etem has to go through waivers next year?
