*Buzzsaw*
Canucks have a tough schedule coming up for the rest of February. Almost all the teams they will face are currently ranked higher in the standings. Most of them are playoff qualifying teams. And to boot, most of the games are on the road... yeah I know the Canucks have a winning road record, but against these teams this might be a little tougher. I have thought all along the Canucks will make the playoffs as a wild card team, but if they can't win at least 50% of the games in the rest of February, that propect will likely disappear. The Canucks lately have shown an inability to beat higher ranked teams, their victories have been mostly over the cellar dwellers. This will be the real crunch time for the team. On a positive note, I do like the play of the guys which have recently been brought up from the farm. Kenins is decent two way player, and Clendening has shown some good poise in handling the puck in his own zone.
hatedkid666
The rest of the season will decide if we make the playoffs or not.

Kellens is decent two way player, and Clendening has shown some good poise in handling the puck in his own zone. On a positive note, the trade deadline is in the first week of March. Either the boys tug up those boot straps and start putting together some wins through Feb and hence make a solid push to the playoffs... Or they collapse under the pressure and we start selling off some of the vets and redundancies and speed up the retool (and get a decent pick in a deep draft). Enjoy the ride! Guest Dasein
Yeah saw this coming when the schedule came out I liked the effort they put forth last game - near playoff atmosphere and energy It'll have to be that every game from here on out if we are to make it
Wash
I'd say pulling heads out of butts on the power play determines if this team is playoff bound!
Guest Dasein
^^^^ They looked good last game Did everything but score

Guest Dasein
You guys have been saying that about every month... something or another will determine ___________ Well I haven't, and February definitely does determine it IMO I thought so as much before the season opener when I looked at the schedule Mentioned it in multiple threads too earlier on, but I can't go back and find them now - been too long
Bo.Horvat53
It depends how other teams in the race do. We could be saying March determines it next month.
Guest Dasein
Yeah March is pretty tough as well but there's breathing room NJD and BUF at the end of the month are the only two games against teams who are out of the playoffs for sure
grumpworsley
This team cannot take the type of punishment it got last night over a period of a few games let alone a 7 game series
JohnLocke
Wait. You're telling me that how many points the Canucks get directly correlates to their chances of making the playoffs?!
ice orca
Canucks are in tough this month, they better figure out the PP asap.
Jagorim Jarg
Are you going by winning percentage or fake 500? 7-6-1 = 7 wins 7 losses, which I think is a reasonable estimate
bigbadcanucks
OP's headline should have read: "NEWS FLASH: Canucks have win more games than they lose to stay in the playoff race". Thanks. Most of us didn't know that was the case.
c00kies
The rest of February, March, and April will actually.
Quoted
My expectations about how far they will go in the playoffs are so low that I have to admit I really don't care one way or the other. I am more interested in seeing the club making positive changes between now and the start of next season to better position themselves for two or three or four years from now. Most of us didn't know that was the case. Cool. How about you actually contribute something to the thread instead of bash it? OT. I think Canucks will have a loosing record and eventually part ways with a couple Vets.
Odd.
If we are making the playoffs, GREAT! I'll cheer on the team until the very last minute. If we are NOT going to make the playoffs, well, at least we will be getting a top pick to further boost our prospect depth. Both ways, I'll be behind the team 100%. We are miles off of becoming consistent playoff contenders. I do agree that February is definitely going to determine where we are as a team and if we are actually going to go balls deep or simply 'just miss the playoffs'. We really need to be sellers, not buyers come trade deadline.
