Why hasn't Bo Horvat been promoted?

Bo horvat has been great for our team these past couple weeks and it really shows he is one of the hardest workers out there. My question is why hasent he been promoted or given more ice time?

We all know our powerplay has been really bad recently just going 0/5 in last nights game. I know we won yesterday but it still bothers me that our coach does not switch things up enough and seems to favorite linden vey. Yesterday during the press confrence Wille was asked why Bo Horvat (who is hot right now) isn't on the powerplay and he kind of laughed and said "I don't know, the other guys are doing there job". Well it looks to me that they are not doing it that well. Bo horvat has 3 points in his last 3 games and vey has 1 in his last 5. I don't think it motivates players really well sometimes when you play the seniority card. Benning got vey from a trade with L.A and Horvat was drafted by mike gillis, I just hope our coach rewards our players in the future for playing good and hard and not try to suck up too our general manager. I also think the people on our second and third lines are to comfortable because I think they know they are not being demoted ice time even though they haven't been producing as much as they should. Our first and fourth line have been the best lines for a while, I think that says something. Don't get me wrong I think willie is a good coach and I do like him I just think that he needs to make the tougher decisions to make this club more consistent and be a little harder on the players.

Because Bo is still a rookie and he's succeeding in his current role, so they want him to get a lot of experience and confidence before shoving any extra duties onto him.

Dont you think he should at least be given some powerplay time though at least. I think that would increase his confidence.

Some guy said and I'm paraphrasing here

Post game VS jets'

Reporter "Willie about about Bo on the 2nd PP unit,he's producing"

Willie " (chuckle) No Bo knows his role" and other guys are producing too.

NO they're aren't Willie Vey and Higgins have done NOTHING in the last 3 months

EDIT found the post game interview start at 2:55 mark

Both of you pose valid points.

It's hard to say really, but I'm just glad he's doing as well as he is.

I agree willie is a an idiot. Are second and third line can't even shoot the puck and are not as physical. Doesn't matter if they are young he understands the game he's a two wAy centre +1 with 9 minutes of ice time. He has confidence look up his past highlights he has skill. he needs a bit more ice time to develop quicker and could be a tough player in the playoffs.

All that thinkin' isn't doing you much good. Might be hurting your brain.

Like it's been said in this post and by Willie himself, the coaching staff has Bo playing a certain role and are trying their best not to heap on additional assignments and pressure. Bo is excelling where he is right now.

Using Vey as an example for the seniority card...that's a good one. Concerns that Willie may be "sucking up" to his boss...that's even funnier. "First and fourth lines have been our best"...do you realize who plays on the first PP unit? All of the guys from the first line.

Don't fret...Bo will be earning more ice time at the appropriate time.

Because he's 19 years old and not an offensive dynamo.

And Vey is an offensive dynamo? Just because he is a bit older than Horvat it shouldn't mean he should automatically get advantage over him..he's also a rookie as well. If you've followed Bo in his career you should know that he has good passing and shooting ability. This whole discrimination of not promoting someone because they are young is getting ridiculous in Vancouver. Players should be getting rewarded for there good play like Bo has shown. Hell even Dorsett got promoted to 2nd unit PP time when he was playing well...

Don't you think it's a little premature? Bo puts up 1 assist each in 3 consecutive games for the very first time in his career, but it's also just 3 games. He has 4 points in 6 games, which is good, but don't you think that Bo ought to sustain this a little longer than merely 6 games to earn a shot on the PP?

From Nov 28 - Dec 7, 2014, Brad Richardson tore it up with 4 goals and 4 assists (8 points) in 6 games.

From Nov 25 - Dec 4, 2014, Shawn Matthias put up 4 goals and 2 assists (6 points) in 5 games.

Neither guys got PP time as a reward, and neither guys were able to continue this streak.

Let's not jump the gun - if Bo does this for 10-20 games, then hell yeah he should be getting a look on the PP over someone who is struggling. But PPG through just 3 games/4 points in 6 games? Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Also, Bo's hot right now, but Kenins is the one who scored two goals. Our problem is scoring, so we should put a guy who is scoring goals out there. Higgins was set up on an open net by Clendening last game and missed.

I do cringe when I see Higgins out there as well, but it's too early to say Bo's earned a shot. Let him show that this is not a fluke and then we can put him there if the 2nd unit is still struggling.

We all know our powerplay has been really bad recently just going 0/5 in last nights game.

And that was a beautiful 0/5 if there ever is one. I hated our PP until yesterday - I loved it even more than when we got a fluke goal here and there during the season because they were really bringing the energy and making plays. If anything, I would keep the PP together and hope that they keep this up because they played the right way last game on the PP and did basically everything but score!

because he didn't put the new cover sheets on his tps reports even though he got the memo

This. And becaause Kassian was invisible out there as well.

Vey is also playing his 5th year of professional hockey, where as this is Horvat's first.
