Hi guys I live in Surrey and I'm very scared of the earthquake that is supposed to hit the coast of BC. Can you guys give me some tips on why I shouldn't be scared because I might ask my parents to move to Manitoba or something because I have been really scared lately. Thanks guys. Also please don't hate because I am only 12 years old.

Edit: Also can you guys tell me why you guys aren't scared of the earthquake because it seems like this is all I think about and I can't focus on anything else.

You should be scared... if you actually manage to survive the Earthquake, Surrey will probably be destroyed by the tsunami that comes, and even if you survive that (unlikely), being 12, you definitely won't survive the looting and pillaging that comes after that.

So yeah, my advice to you - pray

Hey there lil bud. Earthquake preparations are wise, so good on you for being aware. Hopefully you don't live in a complex. If you do, not to worry. Try to have fresh water and some stored food. Like flour, beans, and canned goods.

Don't let it consume you though. Know where to go, door jambs, and be away from windows. Or at least don't face them.

I'm no expert, but the tectonic plates that are sliding are out in the ocean so if the plates decide slide off causing an earthquake with seismic rating of >9, it'll be tsuamis that you should be worried about. Seeing how you live in Surrey, you should be okay. Just hope that you aren't anywhere near Richmond/Delta when the big one hits. This is all out of your control, so best suggestion I can provide is not to worry things you can't control (easier said than done). Make sure your mom has lots of water and food rations stocked up though (just in case). Good luck.

What most people don't realize (likely due to the terrible job our public school system does teaching earth sciences) is that because it's been so long since we've had a 'big' earthquake, the next earthquake will be large enough to actually propel you into the air at a great enough distance for God to save you. So don't worry.
