Outsiders
Sorry If in wrong section. TSN Radio Vancouver @TSN1040 8m 8 minutes ago Matthias on free-agency: I haven't spoken to (Canucks). I'd would love to be here, I like all the guys, I really do enjoy playing here Would you guys like to see Shawn Matthias Re-Signed by the Vancouver Canucks? If so term and how much. Personally I would resign him. He is one of the fastest hard working guys on the team. He gives us solid minutes in the bottom 6 and gives us Size and Strength. He is a great on the PK . Id do 2-3 years @ 2.25 - 2.5 MAX This signing would make Higgins/Hansen expandable because he brings everything they do + more
samurai
He's been one of the better players for us this year. They will try to resign him if the deals makes sense.

Nuxfanabroad
Sure, & sign his lovely girl to pluck the anthem on her acoustic, while MD belts it out. Lucky kid, that Matthias. :^)
*Buzzsaw*
Sign him... he is a good addition... he may make the 2nd line next year if he can step up his game a bit more.
billabong
3yrs/6m Might want 2.5m a year but I'd give it to him
Ronalds.Kenins41
He is only getting better and better and has made huge strides this season. He gives is all every shift and is not as old as Higgins/Hansen. I would definitely re-sign him to a short term low caphit deal.
LeanBeef
Yes,but they have to get rid of one of Higgins/Burrows
bigbadcanucks
Yes. 2 years @ $2.25M per season.
Junkyard Dog
Something around 2-2.5M at a term of 3-4 years. Turns 27 this month so he still has a ton of good hockey left in him.
cocanuck
He has filled a nice role and has size and speed but I don't like the fact that he seemed to have his best year when his contract is up. better be cheap
apollo
Might make Higgins expendable but definitely not Hansen. I'll do 3 years 7 mill ideally... It'll probably be 7.5 though
Harvey Specter
As long as the deal is fair for both parties, I'd say we should definitely try to re-sign him. Benning has mentioned in the past that he's tried to acquire, so most likely he's going to seriously consider extending an offer to him to stay a Canuck. "...I talked to Jim Benning yesterday and we discussed the season, so I’m pumped. He told me he tried to trade for me when he was in Boston. That’s nice to hear." - At Home With Matthias - Vancouver Canucks - Features I'd estimate a 3 years/$7.75 million contract extension, as I am expecting him to look for some stability in terms of length. Most ideally, I would like to sign him for 2 years/$4.5 million and go from there once we've had a better overall look of his game and progression in our system. He's played well throughout the season, adding more to his game in comparison to what we saw when he was first acquired.
Mathew Barzal
I like Matthias, I do. If we can resign him cheap and without any sort of clause I'll be all for him. Otherwise get what we can at the deadline.

TimberWolf
The question is "does he want to sign here?" The team is three or four years away from competing again, does he wish to spend his prime struggling without testing the free agency first? Honestly I just wish higgy would turn it around... Its tough to see him go through this stretch. I think a change of scenery might do him well. I'd definitely keep Hansen and Matthias long term though. Any other top 9 forwards we could possibly swap higgy for? He does have the LNTC
Nuxfanabroad
Actually good to keep some of these 'tweeners, & delay the full-on youth movement. Promote the kids too quickly, & they bear the brunt of a fading era. Two more drafts of good selections, whilst maintaining a competitive Comets lineup. Gross-Misconduct
I'd sign him for sure. Higgins, Kassian, Hansen should be moved. I would of included Burrows but as much as I love Burr, what's he gonna fetch on the market? A late rd pick? Which, when I think about it, might be ok cause that means we get his salary off the books.
