Odd.
Tampa has 2 1st round picks. I think they can move a 1st rounder to get a decent player if it helps them for the playoffs. When you see their defense, it's rather injury prone. I think come playoff time, Hamhuis would be really great on their backend. To Tampa, Hamhuis, 2016 2nd round, Kassian. To Vancouver: NYR 2015 1st, Adam Erne. Why? They get Hamhuis who is a serviceable, steady top 4 d-man that is worth a late 1st rounder. He'd fit well under Tampa Bay's team. He'll also reunite with former teammate and good friend, Jason Garrison. Kassian would also help solidify their bottom 6. I think he just needs a new change of scenery. He's definitely still a good, young PWF that will help Tampa get a little more physicality in their line-up. They also get a 2016 2nd rounder, to further bolt their draft picks. Adam Erne is having a great year. However when you look at their prospects, Tampa has Killorn, Palat, Kucherov, Stamkos, Drouin, and Johnson who make up Tampa's top 6 NOW, and even the future. They are all younger than 25. Hell even Callahan and Flippula have at least 2-3 more years before they are even considered "old". That makes Erne expandable. I've been watching Erne for awhile and closely. He's got very good size at 6'1 220 pounds. He's ripping it up in the Q with 66 points in 46 games played. Tampa can also afford to give up their NYR 2015 1st round pick. They have lots of good prospects and picks, they need guys that can help them win and get to the playoffs. Hamhuis is capable of that. His presence is definitely needed in the playoffs, especially if Tampa wants to add stability to their back end. We aren't going to go balls deep if we make the playoffs, we might even miss it. Adam Erne helps our prospect depth and just like that, he will be ahead of a lot of our prospect players and could even challenge for our roster spot next year. He's just what we need for our future core. Big, strong, can play the puck really well, good hands, solid defensively, good play-maker and a great shot. We can afford to offload Hamhuis, even though it won't help us make the playoffs. But, we will get a high pick, and a low pick, and select a defenseman with our high pick, and get a good forward with our low 1st rounder. Or vice-versa. Either way, it'll be huge for us when taking that next step into developing our future. Thoughts?
Nuxfanabroad
Saw them discussing such a deal on HFBoards..TBay fans seemed receptive to the notion. The issue is whether Hammy would waive to go down there. With Yzerman, Garr & the team they've assembled, he might.
DrChill
Think Van gives up too much in this deal. Like the idea though.

Nuxfanabroad
I don't think TBay should fully trust their 'tending yet(Bishop, injured last PO's; Vasilevsky, too young). Also lacking RH-D. Another question mark is their toughness. We could address all these potential weaknesses. Tanev, Kassian & Lack. Erne, Koekkoek & one of their 1st rounders. Might have to switch Erne with one of their fwds, due to TBay's cap. Then if Hamhuis would waive, consider Pitt or Mtl.
Wilbur
Whoa, a non-ridiculous proposal in the proposals forum. Craziness. If the Canucks underwhelming play of late continues it'll be interesting to see if some of the vets would waive. Hamhuis' absence would certainly be felt, so the return would have to be good. And this appears decent enough. I wouldn't take any less though, otherwise I'd keep Hamhuis.
87Crosby
If it was Bieksa I'd be all for it.
Ryan Strome
If it was Bieksa I'd be all for it. I think everyone except Tampa would be all for it if it was Bieksa.
Toews
Subtract Kassian and I think they still do it. He isn't particularly a need for them. Good proposal. I could see this one going down.
Relyt Krets
The only way i'd be open to that is if we get a potential top 4 D in another trade. Id feel better if it was Bieksa as much as I'd hate to see him go. But Hamhuis eats up a lot of minutes. Would need something to replace that so they dont rely on jusy one pairing (Tanev/Edler). patrickd73
Asking Hammer to leave after the hometown discount he took to come to BC, and the fact that he's a local boy....weighed against his desire to win a cup. I don't know...he's not very vocal, and would probably be easy enough to move. But why? Is this assuming no playoffs this year, or next?
Pimp C
You've never watched him before. lmao. Tell me something about him that is NOT on the progress reports on the internet.. His 68 points this year have more to do with the fact that he's bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else in the Q. He isn't going to have that advantage in the NHL if he ever makes it. I just don't think he's going to be that good of a player. Also, he looks like a schmuck.
