IronFistPedan
What is the likelihood of him making his way back to the NHL? With the KHL possibly being in turmoil there's been a lot of talk of KHL players heading over to greener pastures. He's been one of the better faceoff guys in the league in his last tenure. Very solid 2way player from what I've seen. I believe Blues hold his rights, but I thought they had somewhat of a contract dispute. Might the Blues trade his rights in anticipation of a return if their relationship is beyond repair? Always been a fan of his and would love to see him in a Canucks uniform. Plus he's a nemisis to Kesler.. thoughts anyone?

IronFistPedan
I think im missing the whole nemesis to Kesler thing? everytime we played the Blues with Kesler in our lineup and Sobotka in theres they always seemed to get into it a fair bit exchanging cheapshots and the like. I know this kind of behavior is commonplace throughout the league, but Kesler and Sobotka seemed to get into it more than any other pair of players between the two teams. Maybe I'm the only one who noticed lol.

Apple Juice
Well Sobotka ran because the Blues were dumb enough to give the money that Sobotka deserved to Steve fricken Ott. Otherwise, you would still see Sobotka on the Blues and Ott playing elsewhere.
oldnews
Sobotka was a huge loss to the Blues. Agree with A Juice - the Blues had a real brain cramp there showing the money to Ott and letting Sobotka walk. That was quite a shocking and epic derp on their part. Agree with the op - one hell of a two way player that I'd love to see in a Canucks uniform.
TheFastOne21
I would love to have Sobotka in a Nucks uniform. He is a solid 200 foot player with a lot of flash when he wants. That and he is great in the dot.
Bang Bang Boogie
Dumb move by the Blues to offer more to Ott and to Sobotka. A great two way player who is awesome on the faceoffs and can chip in offensively. I would love to see him on the Canucks if it's at all possible. ManUtd
Wouldn't the Blues still have his rights? They don't just have his rights. He's actually has a contract in St Louis. The Blues filed for arbitration presumably because he was going to the KHL. He still signed with Omsk but the arbitration hearing went ahead anyways without him in attendance. So now if he comes back to the NHL he would be bound by his one year 2.725 million arbitration award with the Blues. He would be a UFA after though. wshdrvvn
more like they signed Lehtera and Sobotka didn't have a meaningful place in their line up anymore.

I remember being confused about what to do with him when updating NHL 14 rosters.

I bet it was an ego thing - they wanted to hold onto a body from that BUF trade to show that it wasn't a complete disaster, but made it worse.
