from the CBC:

A Facebook campaign calling for a boycott of a Tim Hortons in downtown Vancouver has garnered thousands of hits over allegations someone from inside the store poured water under two sleeping homeless men.

Peggy Morrison said she works across the street from the store at 463 Robson St. and watched it happen Friday morning from her window.

'He poured it underneath so the blankets and consequently the dog and the man were both soaked.' Eyewitness Peggy Morrison

"It was 10:30 a.m. and I was in the middle of a conversation with a co-worker. I said, stop, stop. I don't believe what's about to happen across the street," she told CBC News.

Morrison said a man came out of the Tim Hortons with a bucket of water, which he poured under a homeless man who was sleeping on cardboard and blankets with his dog.

"He didnt throw it on him," she said. "He poured it underneath so the blankets and consequently the dog and the man were both soaked. The [homeless] man jumped up. He was obviously shouting. The dog looked shocked and they started moving all of their stuff around the corner to the entrance of the IGA, which is where they remained."

The man then poured the remains of the bucket under a second man sleeping on the other side of the door.

Morrison said the man re-emerged from the Tim Hortons with a straw broom and proceeded to sweep beverage cups, sheets of cardboard and the remains of plastic garbage bags from the sleeping mat down the sidewalk away from the store.

Seems like he knew what he was doing and succeeded in what he intended to do. So the problem is ? was the homeless man asked to move previously ? was there a disregard for an employee or manager asking the man and dog to leave ? was it simply a first reaction by the business employee or was there a history ?

The people on facebook with the " boycott Tim Hortons " page, how about putting some time and energy into helping the person affected by this incident ? business has every right to ask people to leave and keep their storefront's clean.

Slow news day?

CKNW seems to thonk it is a big story. They say the story is causing a stir on social media. And CKNW did a horrible job on the reporting by saying water was poured ON him, which is completely wrong. The water was poured UNDER him.

These homeless people the majority of them are disgusting. They will take a crap right outside the door just to piss off the people who work their because they don't get "free" food. I don't blame these employees at all.

Don't generalize people like that peaches. That type of ignorance is 2 steps away from racism my friend. Not all homeless people are "disgusting" and they sure as hell aren't all saints either. We are no better than they are.

Not everybody is lucky enough to be sitting in a heated home with a cup of coffee and breakfast/lunch in the fridge, sitting in front of a computer judging people.

Never forget how privileged & lucky we are.

tim hortons should curb the terrible canned canadiana marking ploy and start advertising itself as a serviceable respite for the mentally unwell. i went in to the one in downtown victoria the other day, against my best interests, and there were at least two homeless-looking people face down on tables, and about ten others somehow upright

was like walking into the craft services section of a george a romero movie
