MaxVerstappen33
The hate-on for Chris Higgins with the casual fan gets louder every day. Production wise, Chris Higgins is leading the team in scoring chances yet has 7 goals, 13 helpers and +8. Thats not a lot but neither is his salary. At 2.5 million, he isn't signed to score 30 goals. He is signed to be a + player checking top pairings and killing penalties which he is doing. There is nothing sexy about Chris Higgins game this year. But that does not mean that he can be replaced with guys like Linden Vey or Zack Kassian. Kassian is a -7 playing lesser opposition and while not killing penalties. Recall the popular mantra last year. Everyone wanted to waive Hansen and Burrows because of their lack of production. And trade Edler. Well Higgins is having a rough go of it this year but as with the players mentioned, that does not mean he should be waived or traded.

Kazmanian Devil
Yeah but Higgins has the sniper player type on NHL 11 so he should be getting at least 30 goals

Down by the River
Kassian cant play PK because he is a one way player. Which means Kassian cannot replace Higgins. Hansen, Burrows, Horvat, Richardson (when healthy), Mathias, the Sedins can all play PK. The Canucks have the luxury of killing penalties by committee. Losing Higgins wouldn't be as big a deal. Higgins' situation isn't similar to Burrows' last year. Burrows was hurt, given fourth line minutes a lot of nights, and had a coach unwilling to work with him. Higgins gets 2nd line minutes, PP time, and a coach that adores him. I actually like Higgins as a third line guy, but he can't fill a top 6 role like Burrows. Is that while Chris Higgins is a decent bottom 6 player, OP thinks he is obviously going to get better and by comparing him to kassian has kept his ridiculous Kassian love affair alive in yet another thread. newsflash. higgins is a decent 3rd line player and an awesome 4th line player. You don't disappear for 3 solid months at his age and somehow someway as a fan expect him to pick up his production which his career stats say won't happen. Comparing him to a spark plug like Burrows who has consistently scored 20+ goals per season while being our best PK threat is crazy. Higgins IS a steal. Higgins IS a decent player and he's the exact type of player we need to move for any return this year and to allow for a roster spot to intriduce more youth into this line up. Comparing him to a barely 24 year old kid is even crazier. The only thing crazier than any of that is how you managed to make yet ANOTHER thread about how piss poor you think Kassian is under the guise of speaking about Higgins. Honestly, and I don't use this word often. but before I put you on ignore I have to say it. This Kassian hate is PATHETIC. Now please accept my invitation to ignore you. because I plan to. Seriously...another Kassian thread.
ForsbergTheGreat
The complaint on chris higgins isn't his salary, work ethic or defensive play, it's that he's put into a role (2nd line) that is expected to produce, and he's not. He's given 15+ minutes a game and plenty of opportunity on the PP, yet since december we haven't seen much from him that leads us to believe that he's effective in this current role. If this team is to succeed or have a chance in the post season, we need secondary scoring. It hasn't been there. Chris Higgins role shouldn't be 2nd line, it should be 3rd or 4th. Playing a reduced offensive on the 3rd of 4th line doesn't effect the strengths that Higgins does has. I don't know what the concern about bring up Kassian has to do with why people are upset with the play of Higgins.
MayRayDown
Burrows was injured most of last season and has proven he can be a top 6 forward while Higgins is a bottom 6 forward playing in the top 6. If we were a contending team Benning would have gotten a 2nd line LWer by now

He acts like he's owed the world and isn't living up to expectation. If there was one player who fit the country club stereotype Chris Higgins is the first guy for me. He's just frustrating to watch and hear in interviews. We need our youth to have a chance. I hope management believes someone can fill in for him. I really dislike his whole swag. That's just my 2 cents tho

Actually is was the first time in about 15 games that higgins wasn't on the 2nd line. Matthias finally got the chance and he scored. i actually liked the look to the line up last night, but it shouldn't just end with 5 on 5 play. Higgins hasn't shown that he's the right fit for the second line PP unit either. You pick who we can't expect to produce offence. Kassian has 6 points in his last 23. Higgins has 5 points in his last 27 Hansen has 6 points in his last 21 Matthias has 5 points in his last 23 Vey has 6 points in his last 23. Bonino has 6 points in his last 28. Slim pickings. Hopefully a trade is in the making. But that leads us to the next question. What is higgins role on this team. If higgins isn't put in the 2nd line role, where does higgins fit on this team? does he bump Matthias down on the depth chart? Does he move down to the 4th and move hansen out? luckylager
Higgins has missed more open nets this year than anyone on the team. I get that the OP wants us to respect the fact he "only makes 2.5", but he cannot shoot this year, maybe his wrist or elbow is injured. I don't know why he keeps getting put out there on the PP or on the 2ndnd line (first 3rd line) eating 15ish mins a game. I bet Jensen would have missed the open net less times and would actually get the puck off of the ice when he shoots. Higgins is tired and is taking up space, buh-bye Chris, thanks for a few good years.

Burrows' 17m49s per game in 47 games last season suggests that he was getting a whole lot more than 4th line minutes a lot of nights. The rest of your argument (i.e., injuries, a coach unwilling to TALK to him)...well yah, those are well documented.

Most go wide/over the net, and into the crest of the goalie, but at least he shoots.
