Piggy Bank
http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/697733 Homegrown talent tends to shy away from the pressures of playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. But as we know, Connor McDavid isn't just any prospect. As such, the consensus top-rated prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft would prefer the ping pong balls land in Toronto's favor. "It’s pretty crazy to even think about, but that would be an absolute dream come true," McDavid said via Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun. McDavid and the Maple Leafs are hardly on a collision course. However, with the team's collapse and possible plans to sell off assets, seeing him pull a blue and white sweater over his head in June no longer seems like a pipe dream. The Maple Leafs currently own just a 6.5 percent chance after their win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, but have played more games than any team in contention for the Erie Otters star, save for theBuffalo Sabres. McDavid has 21 goals and 76 points in 30 games. Wow. Could you imagine JVR McD Kessel?

Warhippy
The Leafs have a chance. But then if the canucks slide into the out of the playoffs bubble so do we. I'd prefer he go to a canadian team. And amazingly enough...Toronto doesn't count as one and haven't since the 80's He's going to a bottom feeding American team on the verge of financial ruin. See Crosby. The draft will not be televised the right card for the right team will be pulled and we'll have to endure yet another decade of Leafs fans (much like canucks fans) stating how he's totally going to their team the moment he's a UFA

asian player
I'd like to see Calgary win the lottery. They have a good thing going on there and have an honest team. Imagine if Colorado wins though, we'll be looking at McDavid and Mackinnon... oh god

elvis15
Let me guess, someone from Toronto asking McDavid about the Leafs... ...Yup - and I bet if a reporter from almost anywhere else asked him, he'd say he'd love to be on that team as well. EDIT: just to clear up any confusion, here's a quote from the source article linked in the Sportsnet one: Sitting in an otherwise empty dressing room in the spiffy Erie Insurance Arena, you can see the enthusiasm etched on the face of the normally reserved 18-year-old phenom when he talks about the Leafs. Having said that, know this: The top-ranked skater for the upcoming 2015 NHL entry draft insists he’ll be happy with whichever of the 30 NHL teams draft him. There will be no Eric Lindros “I-won’t-go-to-Quebec” stance. In other words, a refusal to go to certain teams. That is not the way Connor McDavid operates. At the same time, he’s not about to hide the fondness he’s had for the Leafs, the same team his father, Brian, rooted for. What's that? A kid from Ontario grew up liking the Leafs? Shocking... Oh, and he says "it is what it is" later in the article as well. I guess maybe he really doesn't want to go to the Leafs or has a poor attitude? /sarcasm I did find it funny though that when I was doing a quick search for McDavid's profile, that one of the suggested searches was "Connor McDavid Buffalo Sabres". That was at least after hockey and hockey highlights, but still before fight, stats and Erie Otters. I guess the Leafs never had a chance... HowYaDrouin
I just hope that he goes to a Canadian/Western city, even if it is Edmonton. I'm sick of all the "generational talents" going to he east(Sid, Ovie, Geno, Stamkos, etc.), it would be nice to see a genuine superstar play on a semi-regular basis. Mackcanuck
The Leafs will get McDavid, Bettman will make sure of it. Having the most profitable team in the League is critical to Bettman. The Canadian $ is low and affecting the league, more revenue from T.O. = more revenue for the league. I can see Bettman now, with that Cheshire Cat smile, coming out from behind that closed door with the envelope. Toronto's has won the 1st overall pick in the 2015 draft, Congratulations Shanny! Yes I do think Bettman is capable of this, why else do they make the draw in private.
