*No Trades, Just Targeting Top 7 Pick. Discussion.

Columbus Blue Jackets.

Had a nice, exciting playoffs. What happened? Wennberg, Rychel, and Murray are all corner stone future players. Along with Johansen, Jackson, and Foligno who they have now.

The draft is now what they need to build through. They have the pieces, and only need a few more.

They need to upgrade at C for sure.

Dubinsky: 14 points in 26 games.

Anisimov: 9 points in 22 games.

With Murray and Wisniewski injured, they need help for their brutal depth.

Nick Bonino would be an immediate trade target.

Dan Hamhuis could slot in well, and he could also mentor Murray.

Would a package of Bonino and Hamhuis interest you guys for 3rd overall? Or do we have to add/takeway?

This isn't a bad trade Hamhuis being gone would free up cap space for Tanev. Plus we've got Corrado. But with Bonino gone who would be our 2C?

The depth managed last game. If this was a pre deadline deal, we would probably move into a top 10 pick on our own with no Bonino. However, if our depth is deep enough, we will be fine

I think If we offered those 2 plus our first it's a maybe.

But then who do we take Hanifin or Strome?

And if we win the Lottery are we sold on McDavid or Eichel?

Obviously the scouting talent of JB would settle that.

But with out depth at C and our negative depth on D - Hanifin without a doubt at number 3.

I am much more sold on Eichel as well, personally.

McDavid has worldly talent.. however:

We have quite a lot more left handed forwards than right.

Reach: Edge Eichel

Strength: Edge Eichel

Size: Edge Eichel

Two-way: Edge Eichel

Shot: Edge Eichel

Experience: Edge McDavid

Stats: Edge McDavid

Raw Skill: McDavid

Game Sense: McDavid

Skating: equal.

Whose had it tougher, and been more resilient: Edge Eichel

Whose been babied and is a bit of a baby: Edge McDavid

C'mon man Bonino isn't much of an upgrade over Dubinsky. In fact, one can argue Dubinsky is better than Bonino. I also don't see Hamhuis waiving his NTC to go to CBJ. On one hand you say CBJ need to build through the draft and then you completely contradict that by proposing they give away a top 5 pick. Makes no sense.

If they get a top 5 pick, then they can easily select a guy like Strome and that would resolve their C problem. Johnansen, Strome and Dubinsky would make for an excellent C trio.

Your proposal makes no sense from a CBJ perspective IMO

This season is a write-off for them. Their D depth will be just fine if everyone stays healthy next year
