[PGT] Canucks vs. Bruins

The Canucks bent a little at the beginning of the third, but didn't break...best effort and result of the season for the boys in blue and green.

Sedins, despite being shut down on the scoreboard, played a great game.

Please...bring the same intensity and commitment tomorrow in Calgary.

Absolute domination from start to finish, but to be fair the Bruins are a horribly inconsistent team now. It was pretty much a reverse of the 2011 Cup final tonight, where the Bruins were making sloppy defensive plays with their slick young D-men and the Canucks size and skill just dominated and forced errors up front all night long.

Kassian better not get traded anymore, and Matthias better as hell get re-signed. That's all I'm saying. The last week or two they've been forming chemistry together and are the only guys scoring goals and hitting for this team right now. Our bottom-9 has been tremendous, and put on a clinic tonight.

This had a playoff atmosphere, especially in the 2nd period when the refs put away their whistles, and where the Canucks would normally bend over and take it, we took it to the Bruins physically and on the scoreboard, and mostly because of the play of Kassian and Matthias. That first pass by Kassian was brilliant, and then his fakeout of Rask to set up Matthias for the hat-trick was a really mature play. Probably should have shot it but you can't blame him for setting up a hat-trick.

Kenins, Dorsett, Hansen and Horvat were all brilliant tonight as well and probably could have scored a goal or two as well. They're doing exactly what's asked of them and plenty more.

Defence was brilliant tonight, in particular Sbisa and Stanton. Didn't think Glendening played amazingly but he wasn't bad, and the Bruins really didn't bring it offensivey. They're a shell of their former self but it was still good to see the Canucks not step back and bring it to them wave after wave.

That was a pretty game to watch. Guys played great positionally and made nice short passes all over the ice. No dump and chase, just good puck possession hockey. Matthias should stay at center and bump Vey to the wing once Richie gets back. Kass finally started skating this past 4 games and can keep up with the play all of a sudden. Whoda thunk it?

Some random thoughts:

Friday the 13th good luck for Canucks. They break the win-lose-win-lose evil spell.

Matthias was just what Kass needed... or is it the other way around?

Vrbata quietly on a 8 game point streak... longest in the league. He's proving he can score without the Sedins.

Our secondary scoring has arrived.

We owned our two biggest hated rivals... Chicago and Boston... back to back. Are we elite again?
