Where are all the idiots that say that you should develop in the chl and Ahl?????

Well.... You should. Until the player is ready that is. Bo WAS developed at the CHL level....derp.

Previous regimes havent given players the same opportunity....true. But to say someone is an idiot for believing that the best two development leagues in the world aren't where you'd want to initially develop a player... That's just idiocy in itself.

In their last 10 games, Horvat, Forsberg, and Gaudreau all have 8 points each.

But Bo has twice the goals as either of them (4 vs. 2 & 2), and is doing it with far less ice time. Also, 3/4 of the other guys' goals are on the PP.

Wow, because it works for Bo, all our 19 years old rookie should be developped in the NHL??!??

Horvat is an exception. He's already built like a man (was at 18) and his biggest asset was his two-way game. He was already way above average exceptionnal defensively in junior, already NHL ready. That's why he was able to come in as a real solid bottom 6 player.

You can't ask Virtanen to start on the 4th line next year and expect the same results. Also, many thinks Virtanen body is NHL ready because he bounces around little kids, but put him in the NHL rightaway and he'll get bounced around like Mason Raymond.

There isn't only one way to develop a prospect. It all depends on their physical maturity, skills, IQ, all-around game, etc. Depending on their strenght/weakness, each level CHL, AHL, NHL can be an appropriate level for development.

Y'know, I will definitely admit I was not a big fan of Horvat, maybe it had to do with trading Schneider away, but to me he just had a dark cloud over his head for me. That, and our other first round pick that year, Shinkaruk, looked absolutely insane in the preseason games he's played, kind of made me care less and less for Horvat.

Even this year when he played a couple of games for us, I still really did not much care for him.

But I have never been so happy to be so wrong.

This guy is great, fun to watch, exciting to see with the puck. I am a relatively new fan of the Canucks, got hooked during the 2011 run (yes, I jumped on the bandwagon, but I stuck around!, as well my family are Canucks fans) so I can't really draw to many comparisons to other players we've had before.

That being said, I am really excited to see Shinkaruk play as well, more so than Virtanen or Mccann

There's so many that think that guys should develop 2-3 years in the chl, 2-3 years in the Ahl, do the math...this means a player is breaking into the league at 22-24 years old. It might be okay to develop depth players, but as far as top line players....I can't think of 10 that haven't played in the nhl before they was 20.

nyquist Tatar johansen

Idiot

Way more players are hurt (career wise) because they're in the nhl too early than ones who were left to bake for too long.

I hated to say goodbye to Schneider-Man but I was thrilled to get BoHo in the draft.

Horvat will win multiple Selke Trophies down the road and no Canuck has ever won multiple postseason awards.

Henrik won

2009-10 NHL Art Ross Trophy

2009-10 NHL Hart Memorial Trophy

Daniel won

2010-11 NHL Art Ross Trophy

2010-11 NHL Ted Lindsay Award

See, it's cherry picked stats like this and the OP's that kind of put this out of perspective.

We don't need to have Horvat compared to to only 19 y/o's and we don't need to dim the comparison window to only the last 10 games just because Horvat as been on a streak in these past 10 games to make him look good.

He's having a good rookie season but Gaudreau, Ekblad, and Forsberg are all comfortably better than him.

Horvat has the lowest TO/I of any rookie in the top 50 in NHL scoring.

Slowly been getting more and more ice time, though.

I half jokingly said Bo could challenge for the Calder back in Nov. (knowing that he wasn't getting played enough to have a shot)

If Willie had given him more ice time for the first 3 months he might have had a shot....

Glad your not the GM, they are comfortably different then Horvat but not better...specially Gaudreau and Forsberg, hard to compare a D.

The best development path for the exceptional prospect need not be the best development path for others. To use a trite phrase, there are exceptions to every rule.

Bo isn't the rule, he's the exception.

Hopefully Bo doesn't suffer a sophomore slump, kids playing better and better every game.

Doesnt seem like the type of player that will have a sophomore slump. The 2nd year slumps usually happen to finesse players that are not strong enough to battle there way through the extra physical attention they get.
