luongomyhero1
I dont see the canucks making a run this season. theyre a bubble team who could find themselves on the outside looking in. Wiht the lack of consistency this year i doubt theyd get passed the first round anyways. The time clock on the Sharks is ticking and if they want to finally become a contender they need a proven NHL goaltender. Niemi isn't getting it done for them this season and hasn't the past 3 years. Thornton and Marleau are entering their twilight years and the window to contend for a cup is shrinking. Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Pavelski, Hertl, Vlasic, and Mueller would deem to be players that they woudnt be willing to trade unless for a top-notch hockey deal. SJ: Miller, Higgins VAN: Wingles, Nieto, 1st, 2016 3rd Vancouver is able to trade Miller because Lack has stepped up since the ALL-STAR break and has looked like the better goalie. Plus, with the depth in goal that we it allows Markstrom to get back to the NHL. He deserves it based on his play this season in the AHL. This would also allow Ericsson to be the top goalie in Utica, and still have Demko waiting in the wings. With Bonino out of the line-up the Canucks need a #2/3 center to fil the void and Tommy Wingles has 20-goal potential and hes plays the PK. Nieto is another young winger to add to our prospects list and could slide into a bottom-6 role to replace Higgins. Then they get a 1st in a deep draft and a 3rd next season. PIT: Richardson, Weber, Grenier. VAN: Dumoulin Pit tries to improve their depth with cheap affordable contracts with UFARichardson and UFAweber. and youngster RFA Grenier for the system. Odd.
And to actually comment... First trade makes no sense whatsoever for SJ. They are basically giving up a 2015 1st, 2016 3rd, Tommy Wingles who's been playing on the third line and has been putting up Nick Bonino numbers, and a young potential top 6 player for hmmmmmm, a rental goalie who's 34, and an aging 31 year old, 3rd liner at best in Higgins? The fact that we are in a playoff spot with Miller, trading him away will decrease our chances of making the playoffs. These trades aren't realistic. Pears
Again, tanking is not acceptable. Also again, trading Miller 8 months after signing him would kill Benning's rep.

Odd.
How is Miller a Rental when he's signed for 2 more years? Let me explain this by breaking it down for you yet again. We signed him here to give us a playoff chance while re-tooling on the fly, correct? Is he part of our future plans? No. He's here because he's giving us a chance to make the playoffs. A rental is when a player gets signed/acquired via trades to fill in a temporary role until the prospects/young guns steal or take the spot from them. Miller is a rental because he's our temporary number 1 starter, giving Markstrom/Demko more time to develop as goalies usually take longer to develop. And age also plays a factor. If Miller was say, 26-28 years old as a goalie, he wouldn't be labeled as a rental if he was part of our future plans. However around the age 33-35, that is when you use older players as rentals to fill out a temporary role until someone who is in the future plans takes the spot away from them or is fully capable of doing so. Miller is a rental. Why would SJ give away part of their future (2015 1st, Nieto, and Wingles according to your proposal) for a 34 year old rental goalie who's only going to get simply 'worse' from here on out?
