Also, this would be a bad idea if it were true. The Canucks should not be looking to add pieces here or there when, even when fully healthy, the team is about half a much improved roster away from being a Cup contending team. Cole is nothing but a 25-30 game player which depletes us of an asset. Much rather ride it out with what we have, or make a move for someone with a future. If no team offers something decent enough in that regard, only then do I see DAL considering a trade for a veteran with term that they can possibly flip in the future or keep (like Higgins) If DAL is undecided and still wants to make a push for the playoffs, I would imagine that they keep Cole over trading for Higgins for the very reason I laid out for VAN to trade for him - it creates room for prospects next season and Cole is still contributing 20+ goals this year Higgins provides a lot more than Cole. Getting a vet like cole would make sense if we got a prospect coming back. Wouldn't be surprised to see a deal like Higgins and a 7th/8th dman for cole and a prospect. Could resign cole and flip him at mid season if we wanted or let him walk. Thst would certainly give us more depth and higgy could bring class and leadership into the stars locker room. A proven vet at 31 who's still young. cole could provide us with another versatile weapon. Be win-win. We have lots of depth and we'd benefit now and in the future. B level prospect be fine. We have Hamhuis, Sbisa and Stanton, and I'd happily continue with them before trading any kind of asset for Del Zotto, who we could have signed as a UFA if we really wanted him. I'd rather trust Clendening, Weber and Corrado to help our PP and have Biega and Sanguinetti too. Even if I was the guy after the Kesler trade that was definitely not on the supportive side of Sbisa as part of the return, there is no way Sbisa and Del Zotto as a straight up swap is a good idea.
