[Speculation] Del Zotto, Cole could be coming to Vancouver

Recommended Posts

according to nhlnumbers del zotto is still an rfa at seasons end. Would be a great addition to help out our PP. He is a pure offensive D man, not good in his own end, but we could play him with a solid tanev.

Edler should hold his own being away from tanev, maybe paired with clendening. Allowing hammer and juice to reunite.

Del zotto should be cheaper to resign than sbisa qualifying offer.

sbisa/stanton grenier for mdz

resign mdz 2-3yrs cap hit of 1.9m per

21pts in 46gp this year not bad

He would be top scoring D on our team. Cheap option for offense from the back end imo.

Forgetting last year eh? That's fine.

Forgetting all the years before that eh? That's fine too

Last year was an anomaly in Edler's career in the big picture - he was more dominant in years prior without Tanev

No and no.

Cole is a flat out no, and if this team were to move HIggins, they could do better than Cole.

MDZ is not intriguing, and the idea of dealing Sbisa for him is a horrible idea. The blueline is enough of an undersized finesse back end without taking Sbisa out of the mix and introducing a Del Zotto - who needs sheltering - but if you're sheltering him, then he's not playing with the guys whose games we'd want to be enhancing. I like the Clendening addition more - I think he'll prove to be a more solid two way puck mover.

Imo there are better options than MDZ, and probably teams more wiling to move those options than Philly should be where MDZ is concerned.

His resurgence is due to Tanev. Last year wasn't the first year he did less than stellar. He's been trending down ever since Erhoff left.

No it is not - his resurgence is largely due to the coaching staff and system

It would be ignorant to say that Tanev had no role, as he is his partner after all, but we're talking proportions - and Tanev's role is very little in comparison to the other factors that has led to Edler's resurgence

Edler will continue to play well even if he doesn't have Tanev

I'm not saying Tanev is the only reason, but he is a large reason.
