Pears
Staal and 2nd for pouliot and bennet doesn't make sense? Where does Pittsburgh get all that extra cap space from?
Alex the Great
The Pittsburgh Penguins apparently want their Staal back. The Penguins are interested in re-acquiring Jordan Staal after dealing him to the Carolina Hurricanes in 2012, according to a report by Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune. Staal has a full no-trade clause, but he would apparently waive it to be reunited with the team that drafted him. Any potential deal is likely to occur in the offseason because the Penguins are not financially positioned to absorb Staal's $6 million cap hit without some major maneuvering. Staal went to the Hurricanes to play with his older brother Eric Staal, but Eric's name is also floating around in trade rumors as the final season of his contract approaches. Jordan played his first six seasons in Pittsburgh, recording 248 points in 431 games and winning a Stanley Cup in 2009. http://www.thescore.com/news/703590 There ya go

Smiley2051
Wow; Staal, Crosby and Malkin... that would be like a third of their entire cap, to 3 centremen lol.

With that kind of talent down the middle, they shouldn't need to spend much on wingers. Or at least that's the theory.

UFCanuck
Rutherford acquired him from Pittsburgh. Now he wants to acquire him back from his old team. I think the least he can do is acquire Alex Semin. Signed him to the worst deal in the league. $7M per year for a floater, then he booked it out of town. Guest Dasein
Man is PIT continuously going to ignore defense and stack up exclusively down the middle? The only Staal I can see putting them in legit contention is Marc, and he ain't available
