Not an option here but I'd move Dorsett. Why? Because we don't realistically have space to keep so many forwards, especially since Benning has indicated Virtanen will be here. Richardson leads our penalty killers, and was our best bottom six forward prior to him getting injured. Easily. Matthias is big, fast and scores.

Dorsett is a good energy guy, but he brings down the guys he plays with from a offensive standpoint. I don't think he'd want to be a 13th or 14th forward for us.

Also Vey. I don't like the way he plays, we have better options going forward.

I want to more Kassian in a package trade for an A-prospect, if a hockey trade can be made.
If i can't however, Kassian's potential is just too high to give up on. He's your classic top 6 power forward who dominate in the playoffs.
Unfortunately for us he's also prone to taking shifts off, but here's hoping thats only a regular season aliment.

JB will sit back and listen, if something knocks his socks off, he'll act. Otherwise, this is what development is all about, a race to make the playoffs with lots of injuries, so we get to see what our depth can do. And, if we make the playoffs, which I'm expecting, every game we play is more crucial development for every young player in those games.

So, I say do nothing, unless JB gets an offer he can't refuse. We aren't going to win the cup so let's develop our depth.

This would include Kenins, Markstrom, Clendening, Bo, etc, etc.

I think Bo's off the table and in the fridge with Virtanen and McCann, so to speak. But yeah, if something knocks his socks off, he'll take it.

I personally like Vey, I think he has a lot of growing to do but sometimes he has some sick showing of skills. Also, I'm not sure why would we want to trade Dorsett? I don't see how you could trade him for something better? He's a great mix between toughness and skill and I haven't seen him take a stupid slashing penalty in awhile.

I'd like to see any of Higgins, Richardson, McMillan, Stanton and Markstrom be traded purely for picks/prospects.

I say Markstrom over Lack purely because I think Lack is exactly the type of goalie that this team needs. Lack has the personality that is immune to pressure and negativity and in Vancouver that is worth its weight in gold.

I think we can pick up a 2015 first rounder and a couple 2nd/3rds if Benning makes the right moves.

If I'm JB, I stand pat. My reasons are:

-the Canucks are not a cup contender this season, so there's no need for rentals;

-the team has, for once, a strong stable of prospects who have a legit shot at making the jump to the NHL in the next 1 to 3 years so I wouldn't want to move any of them out;

-as good as the prospects are, they are quite not ready to unseat any of the vets (and yes, this includes the usual cast of suspects such as Higgy, Hansen, Dorsett, Richie, Matthias, etc.);

-as JB mentioned, as the team gets its injured players back, it will be like making acquisitions;

-IMO, there are better deals to be had on draft day and the team will have a strong sense of how good the prospects are down the stretch here, giving JB leverage to make the better deals on draft day.

I support the school of thought that the trade you don't make at trade deadline is often the best trade made.

Just know that for all of those pending UFAs JB doesn't sign, their prices go way down on draft day. If Benning knows the Canucks aren't a contender, he's better trading the UFAs away for picks. But you're the GM man.

I would be happy to let this year run its course, but I would like to sell Miller, Bieksa, Richardson and McMillan , for picks and prospects. Then see who could be purchased over the summer or at the draft with all the cap space provided.

I know there is a fair amount of ice time eaten up by these four players in various important roles on the team, but we seem to be managing quite well at the moment and the cap relief could create an opportunity to pick up the scoring forward or offensive defencemen that everyone is screaming for.

I'd love to sell assets i don't see fitting the team next year for picks or prospects. it love to be a seller this year, and steal a piece, or two from a contenting team, being aware of our odds of winning the cup this year.

with all that said if you listen, and watch at the culture the Canucks are growing we can't be outright sellers.

when were asking the team to fight as hard as they can. to never take a shift off, and claw for every point they can. you can't then go, and trade away the second line for picks, and prospects without leaving the players feeling betrayed.

I feel like Richardson is a guy that could be traded without the team being betrayed. I've never been inside the locker room or the airplane, but he could be the one that gets sent away. All the other guys are fairly involved with the team. Higgins might be another one of those "Richie" guys.
