thejazz97
This summer, Luca Sbisa becomes a restricted free agent. He is currently 25 years old and is making $2.9 million and is likely to ask for more, as free agents usually do. He's 3-5-8 in 55 games, has a -6 rating, 33 PIMs, and a 6% scoring rate, as well as an SAT difference of -91. So, what do we do with Luca?
Kaner
Simple. He's been playing very well lately, and has shown us and managment that he can step into a bigger role if need be.
vancouvercanucks#1
Easily one of our worst performing defensemen this season, wouldn't mind him being traded for a pick at the deadline and having a RHD take his spot.
Sweathog
If possible, sign him to a one year deal around $2.5M and if his play improves next year resign him for longer term. IMO he's been playing better lately compared to earlier in the season.

thejazz97
Ok, then 2.9 it is lol If we qualify him, and he doesn't sign, there is potential that if another team wants him we get a draft pick out of it. At 2.9 or more, we get at least a 1st and a 3rd out of it.
Canucklehead73
Luca has been alright, better of late, still treats the puck like a hand grenade at times... But he is a big body who can clear a crease and lay some big hits when he puts his mind to it. As long as he is not brutal defensively his hitting is a revelation on this team. alfstonker
This summer, Luca Sbisa becomes a restricted free agent. He is currently 25 years old and is making $2.17 million and is likely to ask for more, as free agents usually do. He's 3-5-8 in 55 games, has a -6 rating, 33 PIMs, and a 6% scoring rate, as well as an SAT difference of -91. So, what do we do with Luca? Did you have to include the insulting options in your poll. Way to appreciate a player who has sweated blood for the cause. He's young, he's good, he's physical. he craves responsibility and he seems to get on well with his team mates. What's not to want? Stats are crap and don't tell the story of how much we have had to rely on this young guy with withering injuries to our D.

Other than the mascot thing, they're all legitimate options, and the mascot thing was just because he thought Fin's name was "Whale". EDIT: Utica and the mascot will now be designated under "other". MOST POINTS: 2,856 (1,485 games, 894 goals, 1,962 assists) MOST ASSISTS: 1,962 MOST GOALS: 894 Stats are Crap? Tell that to WG On the other hand I do think we should keep Sbisa not because of his stats but because of his potential. He does make some bone headed plays from time to time but he logs a lot of ice time and sure can level a hit
smithers joe
Easily one of our worst performing defensemen this season, wouldn't mind him being traded for a pick at the deadline and having a RHD take his spot. i agree that when he first came here, he made lots of mistakes, but i think he has played quite a bit better and fits in here now. Hunter.S-Kerouac
cost too much to qualify him trade him for whatever we can get and turn around and give Mattias and Tanev the money.

komodo1970
I say release him. There is nothing in his game that makes him worth 2.9. We have D men in our system that are capable of putting up those numbers, at the very least and are cheaper options. This option also gives one of our own a real chance at provving himself. grumpworsley
Did you just bring Gretzky into a Sbisa fight?! Lol? It was to point out the posters blanket statement that stats are crap. I have read quite a few posts like this discarding one thing or other in order to prove a posters point. I believe WG is the ultimate proof that stats are not crap. Having said that I did not intend for my post to be a diversion from the original topic........ carry on
