[Trade] Chris Stewart to Wild

Recommended Posts

What the hell, we could have easily topped this with a second and a prospect

Why would we want him though? I'd take any of Kass, Vrbata or Burr over Stewart (Hansen's been solid on the 4th line and doubt we'd get Vey without giving him the chance to develop) so it's not like we'd have room for him here, plus we should still be building, even if the cost was only a 2017 2nd rounder.

What a steal. Scored at around a 25 goal / season his last two years in St. Louis. For what it is worth, he was also 3rd in goals and 4th in points for Buffalo. The type of player who can cause a lot of damage in the playoffs if he shows up.

If he shows up is the problem.

I also find him very over rated by some on here too. Build from within>Trading for Stewart

He by no means would put Vancouver over the top this year, but it would have been interesting and fun to see him play.

That being said, the Wild are in "win now" mode and the Canucks are in "re-tool for the future" mode.

You got that straight. It's been painful watching Stewart being showcased. There's a reason he's the league leading +/- and give-away king of Buffalo. His streaky offense is only less notable compared to his not-so-streaky dismal defense. Just painful to watch this guy, agony to listen to ppl talk him up.

It's as if ppl don't realize - Stewart has 6 ES goals for the season playing mainly in the top 6 and during this showcasing given every possible offensive opportunity. For context - Hodgson has 4 ES goals playing on the 5th line.

still think Hodgson is as good as Kesler?

Nope. Still think he's different. Still think he's more of Henrik's style/talent. Still think he's got room to grow into it. And after this dog house beating year, I'm also more confident that he's quite capable of further developing his physical and defensive game. And bonus - how he has endured this dismal year has showcased his solid character. What was the GM's assessment of him last week.... oh yeah "good solider".
