thejazz97
He just said this when asked why he didn't push the Baertschi pick to next year. Can anyone confirm this?
Odd.
Yes, but was the thread really necessary? Not trying to be a mini-mod here but you could've posted this on here: http://forum.canucks.com/topic/367742-jim-benning-trade-deadline-press-conference-live/
Derp...
Pretty cool that they actually analyzed the drafts and said that 2015 was the better pick to lose
MusclePharm
This year is better in terms of the amount of top-end talent. Next year may have more impact players that arent neccesarily francise guys.
Apple Juice
Did you really need to make a thread for this?

Scottish⑦Canuck
What the hell is this best answer thing? I do think that this draft is being overhyped. Not saying it isn't deep, but it's definitely overhyped.
Odd.
I think it's when the OP makes the post as 'marked solve' or something..
Dutch_Canuck
Lots of good players for next years draft, Couple good defenseman that's for sure.
Gstank29
It is interesting because i was thinking the same thing, about a month ago Sean Day Alex DeBrincat Jakob chychurn and then theres two guys from the WHL with over a PPG. Cant get there names because the WIFI at school is slow AF Sam Steel Tyler Benson Jake Bean Brett Howden Kailer Yamamoto Nolan Patirck
Ronalds.Kenins41
Considering all the other GM's think this draft his better, Benning can either look like a genius or idoit come the 2016 draft. And considering his drafting pedigree I am not quite sure what to make of it. But, one think for sure, I think we us under a lot of pressure when being asked that question and he might have caved into it.
TheSnipeshow91
The 2016 draft might not have Mcdavid or Eichel, but it doesn't mean its deeper. For all we know this years 2nd round might produce lesser NHL players than the next year.
TOMapleLaughs
You say: 2016 draft is deeper. I hear: We are going to tank next season. Updating my sig to Jakob Chychrun soon.

Canucks1219
Lots of good players for next years draft, Couple good defenseman that's for sure. I've had an extra eye on D-man Jake Bean (Calgary Hitmen) while I've been watching Virtanen. Not a big guy (6'0/175lbs) but he has great hockey sense and is very good on the PP. He's obviously not as highly-touted as the Chychruns, Days, Matthews, and even Bensons of the world, but he is a puck-moving PP specialist with tremendous hockey sense. It is interesting because i was thinking the same thing, about a month ago Sean Day Alex DeBrincat Jakob chychurn and then theres two guys from the WHL with over a PPG. Cant get there names because the WIFI at school is slow AF Sam Steel Tyler Benson Jake Bean Brett Howden Kailer Yamamoto Nolan Patirck I wouldn't put DeBrincat with those guys. He plays with McDavid at 5-on-5 and on the top unit PP. Size isn't everything but he's 5'7 which is worth something. I do think he's a great player but I don't know if I would tout him that highly. Let's see your source(s) for every other GM explicitly saying that "the 2015 draft is better than the 2016 draft".

AV.
"Deep draft" yet teams like LA, Chicago, Nashville, and Pittsburgh, who have all drafted well in previous years, don't have a 1st. I trust the man with a scouting background.
Plum
Yeah I think it can be. I know for a fact Canada is going to be really deep. Many are familiar are with Jake Bean from Calgary, he's a good solid all-around player, skates well but is really good with puck movement offensively. He's projected around 30-40 for me, 30-40 this year is a guy like Meloche or Pilon who aren't as good as Bean is IMO. I really like 2016, especially the BC guys. Remember the names Tyson Jost, Dante Fabbro and Beck Malenstyn.
