SabreFan1
Awww, poor Princess Phaneuf. Kessel should just go buy her a new dress and a diamond tiara so she'll feel happy and pretty again.

cdubuya
yeah it would have been better if he had a few examples to drop instead of just a general statement repeated over. he looks kinda pissed he wasnt traded out there. His shot at Nonis did make up for some of it tho. Cant wait for that clown to be fired. Wonder if Burkey takes him back yet again. Treliving may not want him as his AGM but Im sure Burke will find a spot for him in his administration.
Provost
Nonis bungled the situation again. As a Burke protege, he refuses to do deals unless he is guaranteed a slam dunk win. As a result he rarely gets deals done. Kessel and Phaneuf are desperate to get out of Toronto knowing their time is pretty much done anyways. Keeping them for an extra half a season which is intended for losing is not a way to appreciate assets. Nonis reportedly had excellent deals on the table as long as he retained some salary. Reports are that he was unwilling to consider that. Guess what, on their contracts, neither of those guys are worth much in return from other teams. Those are anchors, and mean your return is nowhere near market value. If you retain $2 million on each then suddenly you can entirely reshape your team and stock the prospect cupboards in a single year. For each you can get a 1st rounder; a blue chip prospect; and a roster player because suddenly their contracts are good value to another team. Say what you want about them... but Phaneuf at $5 million and Kessel at $6 million are great deals. Teams would be all over that.

Honeydew
Haters gonna hate can't take the hate? It's not really phaneuf's fault for losing as well... Look at the guy speaking in the interview. Actually there's many contributing factors to why they're doing terrible this year not only just two players ie. Kessel + Phaneuf...
48MPHSlapShot
Maybe he's not as bad of a team guy as people say he is. Good on Kessel.
Mr.53
Always respect a teammate standing up for another. Mad respect for Kessel, who gets his own share of flack too
TOMapleLaughs
Well blow me down, I must be old.Yup. I found out that I'm old recently. Coconuts
Not a Kessel fan, definitely not a Leafs fan, but good on him. Toronto's media is a cesspool, they almost make our local guys look okay.
Heretic
Awww, poor Princess Phaneuf. Kessel should just go buy her a new dress and a diamond tiara so she'll feel happy and pretty again. Pretty sad, I guess you're fine with haterz fans calling the Sedins sisters. No? Then don't be a hypocrite. Good on Kessel. Last year, leaders on our team should have spoken up as well. oldnews
Listening to Kessel I think he is really speaking about himself as much as he may be defending Phaneuf. Toronto fans and media expect a great deal and fact is these 2 players have not delivered a consistent quality performance for the big bucks they are paid. Yes, exactly. Phaneuf may take too much blame, but Kessel on the other hand hasn't been called to task enough. If anything, the sentiment is 'poor Phil can't do it alone'. What a joke. Hey Phil - when you show up to camp in shape - like a professional (making ubermillions) - work hard, stop floating, play the game like an adult - at both ends of the ice - then you may be in a position to beak off like this. You however are the last player that should be talking this crap. Yeah, your media sucks. If you were Henrik Sedin you might be worth listening to - but you're not - you're the guy setting a garbage example for the young guys in your franchise. 48MPHSlapShot
Again, whinging about the media is a cop out--not leadership. His issue was with the media dumping on his teammate. Confronting the people that he has an issue with is a "cop out"? Okay then.
