hockeyvalueexpert74
I suspect the Canucks will be going into the '15 draft with around the 19th overall pick. I suspect them to be off loading some vets to make room for young players to slot in. Here's my proposal: Higgins to whoever for a late 2nd Hansen to Ottawa for Wiercioch and a 4th in '16 Sign Matthias for 2 years, 2.8 mil per Tender Vey QO Sign Tanev for 5 mil for 5 years Tender Clendening QO Sign Kenins for 1.5 mil for 2 years Sign Baertschi, Tender QO Sign Biega for 900k Per for 2 years Let Stanton, Sbisa, Richardson, Dorsett, etc walk At the draft, Trade up to the 14th pick if either Zacha or Barzal is on the table. 19th + Shinkaruk/Jensen + Eriksson/Markstrom Select Zacha/Barzal at 14 Trenin at 50ish Sign a depth guy like Sheppard or something in FA. Lines: Sedin-Sedin-Kassian Baertschi-Bonino-Vrbata Kenins-Horvat-Burrows Matthias-Gaunce-Virtanen Sheppard/Vey Edler-Tanev Hamhuis-Clendening Wiercioch-Bieksa Corrado/Biega Miller Lack/Markstrom
DownUndaCanuck
Yeah not bad. I was hating on Stanton a bit too after that last game but having a look at his stats, we can't let this guy go. Believe it or not, he leads the team with a +12 and is racking up some assists too. If you split the team's defence down the middle by their +/-, there's a pretty obvious division. Plus players: Edler, Tanev, Clendening, Stanton Minus players: Hamhuis (only -2), Bieksa, Sbisa I think we should keep Stanton for this reason alone, but also because he's cheap, plays well physically and is a dependable bottom pairing guy who has been looking alright with 20 minutes a night. Sbisa on the other hand... Personally, for the draft I'd do something like this: Trade Higgins for 2nd round pick (he's been great for our team but it's time to move forward) Trade 2nd round pick + Sbisa's rights + maybe a B-grade prospect like Gaunce or Shinkaruk if necessary to Boston for Joe Morrow. Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Bieksa Morrow - Stanton Clendening/Corrado Leave Clendening/Corrado in the AHL for half the season, let them come up when injuries hit. That means that when Bieksa and Hamhuis' contracts are up they are ready to fill their shoes, and Morrow will be ready for a full time top-4 position. Up front we don't have to do that much: Sedin - Sedin - Kassian Baertschi - Bonino - Vbrata Kenins - Horvat - Vey/Hansen Jensen - Matthias - Burrows As for the draft itself, we have to try and move up to that top-10 and snag one of the future star centers. McDavid and Eichel will go quickly, and Hanifin is a likely #3 leaving some future stars like Zacha, Strome (my personal favourite), Marnier etc. who will go as high as 4th and as low as #10. With our say #17 overall pick, I think we should combine it with a prospect (like Cassels or McCann) for say the #7 pick. With that we draft Strome. IMO Strome > Cassels + Konecny (for example). Essentially a future Kopitar/Getzlaf > a couple of middle-6 centers. Here's our lineup in 3-5 years time: Baertschi - Strome - Virtanen (perfect blend of size, speed and skill) Jensen - Horvat - Kassian UFA - Bonino/McCann/Gaunce - Vey Sedin - Sedin - Matthias Edler - Tanev Morrow - Corrado Stanton - Clendening/Subban Lack Markstrom Demko

Yeah I like Stanton. I was iffy on re signing him. I wouldn't be mad if they did. Gives us that extra depth. I do see a #1C young player that's not Horvat or McCann in our pool in 3-5 years for sure, or even on our team. I think that's what Benning is shooting for. That high skill center. Or even a #1 D-man. Either would be very nice.
Skirbs11
IMO no way i let Stanton, Sisa and Dorsett walk....I would at least try to sign and trade them or trade there rights and for Dorsett guy has been the heartbeat of the team most nights and deserves a spot on the 4th line If we trade up in the Draft i would rather Draft Lawson Crouse, too many of are prospects are under 6 feet and 200 pounds he adds some more size into our future top 6 Other interesting point will be if the Canucks sign O'conner to backup miller will this lead to trading both Lack and Markstrom?? Next years deadline will be important as Management can Decide to trade a few big UFA pieces, Hamhuis, Bieksa and Vrbata all UFA after next season could get big returns to Contenders if we choose to move them
Baer.
Okay I'll join in. I wouldn't trade Higgins. He has good cap, and can play in every zone. I would move Hansen. Many people were proposing to Winnipeg, but I would trade him to the east. Florida has always been a great trading partner. Hansen might waive to Florida since they are building a good young team, and Luongo and Mitchell are there so he won't be alone. I say we trade him for a '15 3rd round pick + F Yaroslav Kosov. Second, we trade Eddie Lack to San Jose for a '15 2nd + 7th Round Picks. This trade secures a pick for us in every round. Resign Matthias, Dorsett, Kenins, Clendening, Vey, Tanev, Corrado, and Sbisa. Draft order: Pick #18: D Thomas Chabot. Chabot was ranked no lower than 20th and as high as 12th by Hockeyprospects.com, McKeens ISS and NHLCS. His stock has really risen in the last 2 months. He is left handed, but easily has top 4 potential. Pick #44: F Yakov Trenin. I also like this kid. Have been following him for a while. Big body uses it well. Not the fastest wheels on the ice but plays a great 200 foot game. Pick #73: F Blake Speers. Lotta people like this kid. Plays for the Soo with McCann. Benning has been scouting him and wouldn't be surprised if we took him. Pick #109: F A.J. Greer: Entering his freshman year in BU, Greer has been caught behind a stack BU roster. Looking to gain more ice time by imrpoving, Greer still has another 3 years at BU, giving time to develop. He already has NHL size at 6'3, 203lbs. Pick # 145: D Christian Jaros: Another big Dman 6'3. 205 Christian Jaros represented Slovakia at the world juniors this past Christmas. He's right handed and plays more of a defensive game. Currently playing in the SHL for Luleå. Pick #169: G Ales Stezka: Won silver in the Ivan Hlinka U18 Tournament with the Czech Republic. For Bili Tygri Liberec U20, in 25 games Stezka has a 2.60 GAA and a .917 SV%. He is rated #9 for European goalies by NHLCS. Pick #194: F Marcus Vela: Local kid plays for Langley Rivermen in the BCHL. He is committed to the University of New Hampshire. Vela has 20 goals and 46 points in 50 games. Let walk in free agency: Richardson, Stanton 15-16 Lines Sedin - Sedin - Kassian Matthias - Bonino - Vrbata Kenins - Horvat - Dorsett Higgins - Vey - Burrows Berty/Virtanen Edler - Tanev Hamhuis - Clendening Sbisa - Bieksa Corrado Miller Markstrom Top Prospects: Virtanen: Gets his 9 games. If he sticks, he sticks. If not, back to juniors. Jensen: Injury callup. Gaunce: Another season in ahl. Shink: another season in ahl. Lines in 3-5 years: Berty - BoHo - Virty Shink - McCann - Kassian Sedin - Sedin -Jensen Kenins - Gaunce - Cassels Trenin Edler - Tanev Clendening - Corrado Chabot - Subban McNally Markstrom Demko
