Tambellini's Wrist Shot
https://twitter.com/nhlbruins/status/573219150669201408 Just for the lulz. In case you didn't follow the trade deadline, the Bruins traded two second rounders for the guy, and he is an RFA at the end of the year. Worst rental trade ever. Gotta feel for Connolly but I LOVE what this does to Boston.

Tambellini's Wrist Shot
He is a RFA and you call him a rental. Please explain. Boston is right up against the cap, and they just added to it with Connolly's contract. They still have to qualify him, which they might not even do. If he is a rental, this will be the worst rental trade ever.

There's absolutely no chance that Boston does not qualify Connolly. They didn't acquire him for a rental run - they spent two 2nds on a young player that they envision as a fixture in their future. To qualify a player requires a 10% increase - on his 851K - so you're talking about 85 thousand dollars of cap space like it somehow inhibits them. I still can't believe Chiarelli gave up two seconds for him though.
oldnews
True. I still can't believe Chiarelli gave up two seconds for him though. Not sure why folks are so eager to call bust on players like Connolly. He's 22 years old - he actually had some outstanding underlying numbers in Tampa this year, and a dozen goals thus far - a 20 goal / 82 pace - and Tampa has a whack of other players to feed their prime offensive situational minutes to. He was rushed into the NHL too early and then returned to the AHL for a few seasons - and has put up excellent numbers for a young AHLer. I don't see the price as unreasonable at all. He was a 6th overall - he has not busted - and he was sold for a pair of 2nds. Seems decent enough to me. I might take Baertschi for one 2nd over this deal, but still, he definitely fits a need for Boston.
Coconuts
Sucks as he's from up island, but I still laughed when I saw this earlier. Hopefully Florida, Philly, or Ottawa can overtake Boston. Ottawa's got a legit chance.

I hope the same people are labelling Jensen a bust as well because he's got lower success at every level of his career than Connolly and they're only a year apart in age.
