Orka
-The powerplay sets up in a diamond formation, plotting edler (or the other dman) right in the middle of the blue line, so when the puck rolls up the boards past the hashmarks, there's no one there. -we give up countless odd man rushes, ON OUR POWERPLAY -though Vrbata is a great shooter he goes very deep on the left side which leaves a huge gap behind him, a territory too large for our one dman to patrol. -The sedins cycle on the opposite side of the ice of Vrbata which means a pass from daniel or henrik has to cross the area with the most traffic. Just my thoughts, maybe I'm just frustrated watching the Arizona game... Opinions?
swizzey
No I totally agree with you. Its been frustrating for a while. The times we have scored since the winter break have been in the first 45 seconds of the PP without any turnovers for the most part. Definitely exposes huge gaps on the blue line for easy clearances when the PK do get the puck and make traffic difficult for the Sedin's to pass the puck. HC20.0
Frankly, I think the PP wont work because NOBODY WILL SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK!! We pass and pass and pass and turnover and oddman rush. Vrbata will shoot, but the Sedins never go to him. Neither of them will shoot either. It's almost infuriating to watch, especially at crucial points in the game. Sorry, I'm mad at the Yotes game too. TheRussianRocket.
Agree. That diamond with the lone dman up top is hurting us more than it's helping.
coolboarder
1-3-1 formation has killed the momentum. They can play 4 forwards but they just need to employ the different formation such as umbrella or some kind of 2-2-1 or 2-1-2 or the combination thereof, so that if the PK get the puck, they will just simply shoot it out by the board where nobody is there because the defenceman is not there. I would employ the two players by the blue line, close to the board while the other side would be at the middle of the blue line, kind of flow back and forth. Vrbata can play on the point and he has a better shot than Edler or anybody on the point. I think that the Canucks has been using 1-3-1 for a long time and it is time for them to use different formation and all they need to find the right type of formation to their strength. stanleycanucks
I agree that this is an issue. The Canucks PP is actually letting the team down. Tonight was another good example. The Sharks game, with the 5-on-3 is another good example - that PP could have shifted the game's momentum. I'd like to see a PP with Burrows in front of the net, the Sedins dealing (Henrik) and Daniel (shooting), and with 2 D on the points. Time to get back to basics! Coconuts
I don't mind four forwards, but the formation hasn't been working. The powerplay has been letting us down big time, and in the last while it's really hurt us.
c00kies
I wouldn't mind trying it with the 2nd unit, but the first unit has enough offensive prowess to use just three forwards.
grandmaster
You want to improve the PP? Get us Ehrhoff and Salo back, those guys were the reason we were number one in the NHL in PP and goals for.
CANUCK-EXPRESS
I hated the 4 forward 1dman PP. Here's the solution play players who will actually shoot and aren't scared To be infront of the net and score greasy goals. All this passing is irritating, PP is literally a momentum killer for the Nucks.
Bo.Horvat53
The PP needs to operate the way the Canucks played the last minute. Bodies in front, and shoot the puck on net like Vrbata did. This is not anything new.
BCNeil
Back to basics. Point shot, try to bang the rebound in.
Patrick Kane
Hope we sign Ehrhoff in the off-season.
