Nolan Patrick unfortunately 4 days short of being eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft, is having himself one hell of a second season in the WHL. The production is impressive & would have been enough in my opinion to be taken in the first round this year. (See him going around the Dubois/Nylander area)

As a comparable Sam Reinhart in his second non-draft eligible WHL season (late birthday), he accumulated....72GP - 35G 50A - 85P. Nearly matching the point total in 10 games less. I have had the chance to watch him lots this year & I see him as a Ryan Getzlaf type player. Would love to stock up on Dmen this year in the draft. Then if we have a terrible year next, I'd hope we'd be able to grab Patrick !!

Of course I'll be ecstatic if we win lotto 1, 2 or 3 and get Matthews or a fin.

But I'll be very happy if we draft between 5-8 and take one of:

chychrun

nylander

tkachuk

juolevi

sergachyov

If TO Drafts anywhere but one, I think they take Tkatchuk.  I think JB like Sergachev.  That kid is super compete, skilled, big, and mean.  JB must know our d is way too easy to play against.

Pick Alex Nylander to end the Virtanen/Nylander drama?

This will trigger a never ending war between nucks and laffs fans over who got the better Nylander, speaking of Alex Nylander, I personally think he's the better of the 2. He's a little taller faster and stronger.

jacob chycrun with a 4 point night and making a late season surge.  17 points in his last 16 games.

It appears we have all our original picks for this upcoming draft except our 5th rounder that went with Kassian. We also have an extra 7th rounder from the Lack trade. So we currently have a total of 7 picks.

Despite some criticism of Benning throwing draft picks around, he seems to have held tightly to our picks for this draft. Just look at the 3 different conditions on our original 3rd rounder! http://www.prosportstransactions.com/hockey/DraftTrades/Years/2016.htm

I believe the 2nd rounder from Columbus is discretionary on their part. Their choice between 2016 & 2017. I doubt they give up for this year. Perhaps Benning trades the pick for something this year.
