I believe the 2nd rounder from Columbus is discretionary on their part. Their choice between 2016 & 2017 & 2018. I doubt they give up for this year. Perhaps Benning trades the pick for something this year.

So how has Toronto been doing it all year? Buffalo the year before?

Have you seen their rosters?

I'm pretty torn on players from the 6-10 range. I don't really think any of them are what this team needs. But saying that I think Serachyov, Juolevi and Gauthier should be your primary targets. Gauthier has the lowest floor but also that highest ceiling, if his offence doens't come along he is a 3rd liner, if he hits then he will be 30 goal scorer. I believe that Gauthiers ceilling is higher than Virtanens but he also has a much high chance of not reaching that ceiling

IMO Dubios isn't going to produce enough to be a 1st liner and is most likely a 2nd liner or 3rd line winger.

Mcleod is fast but I think thats about it with him, he will need to let the rest of his game to catch up to his speed otherwise he's a 2nd/3rd liner

Alex Nylander is interesting because he is a more gritty version of his brother yet the skill set is about the same. I won't mind drafting him at all. I think he is going to be the next guy up after that group of 5 is taken

Of course I'll be ecstatic if we win lotto 1, 2 or 3 and get Matthews or a fin.

But I'll be very happy if we draft between 5-8 and take one of:

chychrun

nylander

tkachuk

juolevi

sergachyov

Pretty much this. There are obviously players you prefer over others, but it would be hard to be angry if we ended up with either of these. Could possibly add Dubois to that group, though im not valuing him as high as those guys as of now, especially considering our positional need that is defence. I consider both Tkachuk and Nylander as better offensive prospects than Dubois.

I see Tkathuk or Chrychun slipping to 5. I have the big three followed by Dubois and then it's all up to the teams. If we pick between 5-8 I want to see us grab Tkachuk, Sergachev, Juolevi, Nylander and Chrychun in that order. Maybe try to get an extra mid to late first and pick up Bean if we don't pick a d man. Really love his creativity.

I cant see Chychurn falling below where ever Edmonton picks. Winnipeg is another team that needs left handed D.

Out of the Top 5, I see Tkachuk the most likely to fall out of the top. I think Nylander could slip into the 5 spot and maybe Dubois at 6

Dubois at 6? I think he is slightly overrated, should be in the 10ish range

Chycrun mr. 17 points in his last 17 games, will probably end up being the 4th pick, with his late season surge.  Dude now is just 5 points behind Doughty with the same amount of games, on a weaker team.  true stud.

dudes got 87 points in 57 games... 19 points ahead of the next guy on his team......  his offence is generated through tenecious hard work... I choose him ahead of Nylander.

love his work ethic.  Dude never quits type of player.  some on hfboards.com were comparing him to Sean Monahan. but a "harder worker"

I still think we end up with Juolevi. Benning will like the program that is developing him in London. Plus he's exactly what this team is lacking. A general on the back end. Plus he's not small at all he just needs to add weight. I like Sergachov as well but I think Juolevi is the safest pick to be a top 4.

I'm curious to see what Scott Conway could do if we drafted him with a 7th rounder. Undrafted in 2013 because he was in the NAHL. +1 year over ppg in the USHL. +2 year solid numbers in university. +3 leaves college to go to the bchl and is lighting it up over 2 ppg (not so special because he's old) but maybe he was just a late bloomer andcould  work his way up through the echl. Would we even need to spend a pick on him or could we just sign him to a minor contract?

There a guy on the HF board, seem well connected that says that some team will pass on Sergachyov all together because they don't like him. He also said that there are some people that love Bean and some that will pass on him.

So that kind of sounds like Sergachyov has a good chance of falling out of the top 10. Most scouts have Bean in the 15 range and there are some teams that don't like him so he could fall as well. If he does fall to the bottom of the first I bet you Benning trades up to draft him.

You know, anything that causes Sergachyov to land in our lap is great, but that is some awfully flimsy evidence you're basing this entire assumption on.

Its Sergachev guys.

I think Sergachyov is the Russian spelling, like Evgeni is often spelled Yevgeni. It think that Sergachev is the anglicized spelling, but Sergachyov is the phonetic spelling.

Good find. Still though its on the back of his jersey. We'll spell it like so. Agreed?  Agreed.
