How devastating would it be to finish bottom three and not get a top 3 pick.. And we we are guaranteed a player that will make all of us on the board happy from 4-6. So im goooood. I really dont know why people are complaining. We're going to get a really good player here.

Well in all honesty going back to 1980 The stand out 6th overall picks are Monahan Ekmann Larsson Hartnell Forsberg Damphousse Coffey It's frightening really when you look at that list. as 1980 was 36 years ago and out of that entire list there's 2.5 franchise players and a few good players. The rest is interspersed with the likes of Rico Fata, Jim Benning and to a better upside Mikko Koivu....but still. Frightening to know we could pick a paul scissons as easily as a Forsberg

S N Y P E R S 7
I like Juolevi as much as I liked Werenski last year: a whole lot. His compete level and skill level are matched at rank highs. He's going to be an extremely good defenceman at the next level.

Yeah it's pretty much the same as it's been for the past month. We either get lucky and win a lotto top 3 pick (Mathews and the Finns) or we draft one of Juolevi, Chychrun, Sergachev, Dubois, Tkachuck or Nylander. And people are acting like the world is ending because the team showed some spine and played well

I actually kind of secretly hope we drop to like 8-9 (CDC might implode! ) and Juolevi, Chychrun, Tkachuk and Dubois are all gone so we 'have' to pick him. He's got too much risk (and reward) to take before those guys IMO (could develop only in to a bottom pair guy) but he could also easily be the best D of the draft. Damn intriguing player. Beaner please, I like Nylander but I'm relatively comfortable with our wing depth right now especially with the emergence of Boeser in the pipe. Im liking Bean more and more (assuming we pick in his range). He seems like a good pick to take a chance on.

Heard Bob Mckenzie on the radio this morning talking about Sergachev. Mckenzie said he's seen Sergachev play in the OHL playoffs over the last while, and thinks the kid is amazingly talented. He said the kid is now 6'3", heavy and plays mean and super skilled. Like you say, maybe the most upside of any D in this draft. He also added that Sergachev might be picked AHEAD of Chychrun. That means he's likely off the board if we pick later than fifth.

Any of Serg/Juo/Chych could be the first D picked and I wouldn't bat an eye at teams picking them in any order. Teams have got far better intel and criteria than us (or McKenzie) and will pick them in the order they'll pick them. Frankly, I'll be happy with any of them and it's a pretty safe bet we'll be getting one of them unless we win the lotto.

There is still hope for Dubois,Tkachuk, Nylander, or Juolevi. Edmonton is taking Chychrun if they don't get top 3 so that is what is what.. Since canucks won’t be catching ARZ or BUF, the lowest this team can drop after the lottery is 9th. That means we will be picking one of: Matthews Laine Puljuarvi Tkachuk Chychrun Dubois Juolevi Nylander Sergachev I don’t see how we can see any negative in that. It’s a major win for our franchise. Gstank29
Are people really bitching about picking Tkachuk, Chychrun, Juolevi Etc. If so get a life seriously I'm tired of this fan based becoming a self entitled Toronto.....

There's no such thing as a complete consensus, especially as you get further away from 1st overall. You also have to consider that the closer to the draft we get, the less truth and the more noise and ambiguity get put out there. Perhaps that scouts team REALLY wants Juolevi...so they're pumping up Serg to try to help get him taken sooner and help ensure Juolevi is still available when they're picking.
