Nylander - Matthews - Marner

eek looks pretty dope too me lol.

I'd take Lion-eh if thats the case :D

Sedin - Sedin - Hansen

Baertschi - Horvat - Laine

Etem - Sutter - Virtanen

Zalewski - Gaunce - Greiner

Edler - Tanev

Hutton - Tryamkin

Sbisa - Larrsen

I can really see Horvat Laine being dominent.  I like the idea of matthews but i still feel horvat will be a good #1 center.  Matthews be ez decision but ya lol.  Some believes Laine could be taken over Matthews but its hard for a time to pass on the strong center.

I personally think that laine would be better off with a more dynamic center

horvat is more of a straightforward create of fence off the rush and is getting groomed to become a shutdown center

laine should play with mccann to get groomed as a future top line

sedin Sedin sutter

Baertshi Horvat virtanen

Rodin mccann laine

dorset granlund Hansen

etem

with hansen and virtanen switching lines interchangeabley

I have s feeling the Canucks get leapfrogged and end up picking 4th. If I'm picking fourth, I'm taking Tkachuk and I could see Beijing doing the same thing - real meat n potatoes guy with a 200 ft game and grit.

I agree here.  Tkachuk is going to be a very valuable playoff piece. He would fit in seamlessly with the kind of forward group thats currently being assembled.  Tkachuk - Horvat - Boeser  in 2-3 years has potential to become dominant in many ways.  I like where we are headed, but its going to take a bit more time.  Only fast tracking here is getting Matty or a Finn.

Odds are that we will be 4th or higher.

Benning seems to really like guys who have good shots and are strong north-south skater (see Virtanen, Boeser, Etem, Vrbata (shot-wise), even McCann & Granlund could be placed in that group. Moreover Benning has stated numerous times that he looks for the kind of guys when scouting. From the way I see it Baertschi and Vey are the only two young guys Benning brought in who could be classified as play-makers. Although I am all for selecting BPA I think play-making skill should be prioritized in order for the aforementioned "shoot first" guys to maximize their potential. I'm not sure if Tkachuk is that guy. To me he seems to have a similar skill-set as Virtanen (albeit perhaps better). That really only leaves Dubois or Nylander if we are going to go the forward route. I'm not sure if either of those guys are better, although I do like Dubois. Admittedly I haven't seen much of Nylander outside of the WJC and some highlights.

Top 3 or one of Juolevi, Sergachev and Chychrun.

Dubois, Tkachuk, Nylander etc are all good forwards but none of them are ahead of the D as BPA. Only way we get a forward with our 1st IMO, is winning a lotto pick.

Even though I really like Tkachuk and Dubois, I totally agree with you. How would you rate the top six?

Crawford, Matthews coach, compared Matthews to McDavid without the extra gear and more of a shooter, Kopitar with the pace he plays with and Sakic with the shot and release.

I thought that was an amazing analysis while he was going through that.

Then I remembered the time Crawford was working as an analyst and talked about how Cody Hodgson reminded him of the best player Crawford ever played with, possibly the most under-rated player of all time Mr. Dale Hawerchuk...

Too risky, too far off.

I'm new to this thread, is there a place where someone has tracked through what we have in each round?

I'm guessing Columbus doesn't opt to give us their 2nd rounder this year, so at this point we have just our own picks in the first two rounds?

And after that?

Apologies if this has already been discussed ad nauseum.

Anyone have any good player comparisons for any of Puljujarvi, Tkatchuk, McLeod, Chychrun, Sergachev, Juolevi, Bean?

- Mathews was compared to Sakic/Kopitar by Crawford.

- Laine offensive game resembles that of the great 8 Alex Ovechkin.

- Dubois plays a lot like Jamie Benn.

Puljujarvi style-wise reminds me of Jagr and Malkin. Big body that can skate. Shields the puck well using his body. Has very good puck-handling skills.

I really don't get people that like Dubois over Tkachuk...

Dudois has inferior stats, in an inferior league and plays in an inferior junior program. I think he'll be an okay NHL player, but there is no comparison to Matthew Tkachuk.

I think Tkachuk is inflated by the rest of London knights. I don't really buy into the hype tbh.
