I don't think that was his point at all.

I believe his point is that, without seeing and examining each goal, it's impossible to assume how important that 2nd assist was on the play leading to the goal. It could have been the a major contribution or it could have had very little little to do with the play/goal.

For all we know ~80% of Tkachucks 2nd assists were major contributions to those goals. Or it could only be ~20%. Without that data there's not enough information to make an informed opinion about the worth of his second assists and hence their overall contribution to (or lack thereof) to his point totals.

And that doesn't even get in to the very subjective: what constitutes a 'major contribution'?

OK. To draw your position out further, and please correct me if I a wrong here, you value all scoring stats the same because you can't be sure if any given goal, primary assist, or secondary assist is a major or minor contribution to any scoring play without running an eye test on that play?

Nope.

Anybody watching the U18 championship? Chychrun looks really bad.

That's a lot of red flags on this kid if you include his average season and not being able to crack Canada's team at the world juniors.Seams to me he's got all the physical tools but doesn't have what it takes upstairs to be elite. I could definitely see him dropping out of the top ten.

Could you clarify?

You can't count them anymore than you can discount them. Not without further information at least.

That does not equate to assigning them equal value (unless you consider 'unknown' a value).

Yeah I'm not sold on him either. Not cracking a shallow team Canada was a huge red flag.

OK fair enough. And why would it be wrong to extended that unknown value to goals?

No doubt. The defence on that team was horrible , he should've been able to slide in.

Anyways I know some here think we'll be drafting a shiny new forward if we drop out of the top 3 but I'd say that it's a given we take the best Defenceman in the draft. Who that is I'm sure I don't know.

PS Tyson Jost looks like a stud

I've been listening to Botch, MacIntyre, Kumza  ( talking draft stuff ) On the TSN1040 of late and most of them answered if the canucks don't pick top 3 who do they take @4. All of them have said Dubois. IMO thats a big mistake. Said Canucks still looking to replace Henrik at centre

why is it a mistake? When you make these claims, it's a good rule of thumb to explain yourself.

I watched the U18 game as well today, and I was impressed with Jost, Bitten, Howden and Fabbro. Jost is an all around stud, Bitten is an undersized pest that draws penalties, and Fabbro is quickly separating himself as the better D over Chychrun.

It occured to me that much of the Canadian roster is ranked in the late 1st to mid 2nd. If guys like Stanley, Bitten, Howden, Kyrou, and Laberge, then it's worth getting excited about our 2nd rounder. I was also impressed with Fitzpatrick, the goaltender - he too would be a steal outside of the first.

Thoughts on Michael McLoed anybody.  Sekeres had somebody on last week who was high on him.

He's the 2nd Centre on the ISS top 30 list at No 9
