He was excellent at the world Juniors, much better than marner was.  Maybe Marner is as good as he is because he plays with Tkachuk........I never see anyone consider that perspective

That's because it isn't true. Both Marner and Dvorak are better players than Tkachuk. Both of those guys are pretty much penciled into the lineup for their NHL teams next year. Besides, the numbers that they put up last year when Tkachuk wasn't even on the team proves that they could produce without him. Tkachuk does make that line better though which is still impressive.

Honestly, I thought Marner was an incredibly selfish player at the world juniors.  I wasn't at all impressed beyond the flash.

I think Tkachuk does most of the dirty work for that line, something we need more of. We are way too soft up front he would look good with either Horvat or McCann.

All of Team Canada looked really mediocre in that tournament. Most of our players underperformed. Besides judging players based on 6 games probably isn't going to give you the most accurate representation of their play.

Let's not forget that we were more than willing to give a pass to Virtanen despite his poor tournament. We have seen a number of guys like Schroeder and Hodgson who dominated the tournament and ended up being duds.

agree - boston in 2011 was just straight up mean/nasty /chippy, they just didn't give a F - horton, bergeron, marchand, rechi

- thats what we need - my absolute pet peeve is a big guy who does notes his weight - taylor pyatt

dubois is ok but I have not heard of him being all that physical.

at 4 - I take tkachuk

- enough with this bs of taking "versatile players" who can play multiple positions, is that code for " he is great at no one thing, but good at a few things," child, please, we don't need that at 4th pick OA

Tkachuk is excellent on the boards and in front of the net but the other two guys aren't exactly soft nor do they shy away from any grunt work. What makes that line special is that each one of them is skilled and each one of them is excellent at puck retrieval.

Its nice to see it done twice and both times picking Laine. The inconstancy scares the hell out of me though. Anything could happen that day and I want a top 3 more then iv ever wanted a player in hockey. Will justify the growing pains this year.

My gut's telling me we won't get Puljujarvi. I just can't see him in a Canucks jersey. Matthews, Laine, Tkachuk, Chychrun, and even Nylander I can see on the back of a Nucks jersey, but not Poolparty.

#9 is available, so is #34, Pedan has #29... However I'm sure he can give it to Laine, same with Vey giving #7 to Tkachuk. As his preferred number is #9 anyway. :) it all works out. Then Juolevi can have #4... Sergachev #31... Sbisa can hand over #5 to Chychrun.

In the case we end up picking 4th overall - Tkachuck all day every day. This kid is a beast…plays both a finesse game and goes to the dirty areas to score. This kid is putting up huge numbers in the playoffs and is going to be a stud.

Always follow your gut. But if we get 3rd overall I'm pretty sure we will

Tkachuk with a hattrick and an assist last night against Erie to bring his point total up to 26 points in 11 games. He is second in points and second in goals (13) in the playoffs.

highlights from the 3 goal game for Tkachuk:

Not to take too much away from him but he looks like the Anson Carter to Dvorak and Marner's Sedins.
