Friday is already going to be a good day for me, so if that somehow happens I'm not sure how anything can top that. Unfortunately the universe just doesn't work that way for us.

I may be in the minority but I really don't think it's a stretch that Dubois could go third overall even if Columbus doesn't trade down. He seems to fit what Columbus is building more than Pulljujarvi. They even had a special meeting with Dubois so you know they're high on him.

If that were to happen then Edmonton would have to decide whether to stick with Tkachuk, who seems like a Chiarelli player, or go with yet another skilled player and take Pulljujarvi.

Of course that doesn't even factor in Arizona trading up with Edmonton to take Tkachuk who they seem to be high on.

It's definitely not impossible that he drops to 5. I never really understood Pulljujarvi being a lock in the top 3 in the first place. Seemed like alot of world junior hype to me. His knee surgery also may be enough to scare teams away too.

If the rumors are true of Calgary wanting to trade up, and Montreal wanting to be in a position to draft Dubois, with both Edmonton and CBJ being talked about as moving their respective picks; i could see the following happen:

Trade 1:

CGY

3rd Overall

Clarkson (cap dump)

CBJ

6th overall

Smid

Kylington

Trade 2:

MON

4th overall

EDM

9th Overall

39th Overall

Gallagher

Then the draft:

1. TOR - Auston Matthews

2. WPG - Patrik Laine

3. CGY - Matthew Tkachuk

4. MON - Pierre-Luc Dubois

5. VAN - Jesse Puljujarvi

Unlikely, but both the teams trading up are targeting someone. With Montreal, that's Dubois and I believe the Calgary rumor centers around Tkachuk. That would leave the Canucks in the fortunate position of drafting Puljujarvi. Not a likelihood, but a possibility from the teams wanting to move up.

This happening is like super super slim. Pretty much impossible

With the 5th overall pick (Pool party still up) the Vancouver Canucks are proud to select...

Logon Brown... Fking Benning

Definetly good points. It's just too good to be true. I'd more than happily eat crow if it did happen though.

Probably won't happen but I wouldn't be shocked. Players drop out of the projected top 3 all the time.

My original hope was that we get Tkachuk, so if that happens I'll be more than happy. But if we get Dubois that's fine with me too.

Basically as long as we don't make a bad deal to trade back or go off the board i'm happy.

I'd be thrilled with either at 5 too. I remember I almost hit the roof when Shinkaruk fell to us a few years ago. I just can't imagine how happy I'd be if Puljujärvi dropped to 5.

Man, when we traded for 9, I really thought we were trading to get Shinkaruk and I had a mini freak out. Then we got Horvat and I was so upset we passed on Shinkaruk. Then Shink fell to us and I freaked out. Then Benning traded him :(. Bro, life of a Canucks fan.

Lmao if we actually drafted Shinkaruk... could you imagine the outrage?

Same, I saw all those clips of Nichuskin making those crazy power moves and I thought for sure it was for him too. Especially with Gillis constantly trying to find the "Next Big Powerforward" with Bernier, Kassian. Trying to be all big and tough like the Big Bad Bruins... and all this talk of trying to find a player for the Sedins.

Not to mention I remember there were rumrors that we were supposedly interested in Nichuskin. But of course Gillis had a no Russian policy. I suppose Nichuskin wasn't an exception.

Ironically enough, Gillis actually DID find the next big powerforward when he thought about signing Jamie Benn to an offersheet. Too bad it never happened. We could've probably traded for his rights cheaper (which is still significant) than what he's worth now.

At the time the Russian $ was fairly strong and so was the KHL lure. If Nichuskin was Canadian, or actually any other nationality, I bet we would have picked him at 9 over Bo.

Worked out great for us.

I'm definitely enjoying all this Dubois hype. Seems like he's on the radar of a lot of teams but more importantly somehow tkachuk has fallen into the shadows.

we would be very fortunate to draft tkachuk at 5th this season, his point totals were insane and we would be drafting the top point producer in the draft. I can definitely see him having a more successful career than Dubois and would instantly become a fan favourite. I was at first hoping for Dubois, then I wanted to trade down, now as the draft gets closer I'm leaning towards tkachuk. The kids going to be a star and would compliment anyone of our centres

Just looking back at the 2013 draft now, and man.... If we drafted Shea Theodore at 24th instead of Shink.

I noticed that recently also. With our lack of d prospects this was a huge error and reasons like this go against BPA mentality (which can also backfire)

If only we knew then what we know now. I mean, I still think Shink can be a hell of an NHL player. I think Benning is going to regret the trade one day. But if we knew at that draft that we would trade Shink before ever giving him a fair chance, yeah, Theodore would have been an awesome pick.

For those interested, the DEV model from Prospect-Stats (Zac Urback) is now up:

http://prospect-stats.com/DEV/default.html

It looks pretty interesting. However it's a little glitchy and not all the numbers are available right now.

Why wasnt tkachuk considered a rookie?
