2016 NHL Entry Draft [June 24-25th || Buffalo, New York]

Recommended Posts

I find it interesting that most mock drafts have Nylander in the top 10, and even some around the 6,7 range, yet no one ever really mentions him as even an option for us, yet guys like Keller and Jost and Brown seem to all be constantly linked to us in these draft talks, yet it's highly probable that at least 1-2 of them are not even top 10 picks. Granted I don't see any shot at us pursuing Nylander. I just think it's kind of funny that literally no one sees him being drafted by us.

I'd like to draft Nylander over Tkatchuk

Goes to show that no matter what, we're picking a really good player.

They question Puljujarvi's hockey IQ here.. His playmaking skills have been highly spoken off in a lot of places so I don't really understand why he's being questioned here.

I hope Columbus and Edmonton feel that way so we end up with him but realistically he will be long gone.

Its one analyst lol. One analyst who im sure not many have even heard of. Its fun to think that there is a chance, but it seems like hes just swinging for a huge home run here.

He is considered one of the most skilled in the draft..downside is that he is undersized, and is not really a 'two' way player..defensively weak.....I think he will go 7-10.

Looks like me running naked around Rogers Arena might actually happen..

In all seriousness,

I still do think Poolparty is better than Laine in regards to overall completeness. May be the most complete player in the draft. Can shoot, score, play a 200ft game, overall a smart player despite those incy bitsy reports saying his hockey IQ isn't up there, he's physical, NHL ready etc.

Sedins never had an actual pure, offensively gifted, skilled right wing on their line. The closest would be Burrows. If we're able to draft Puljujarvi somehow, we would have our number one right winger, and we can focus on developing Horvat as our 1C, and Sedins would finally have a player that would benefit them. We would also have a player that's exciting to watch, has that swagger Shinkaruk had that instantly attracts fans, and overall he would be fun to watch.

Somehow we can convert Boeser to the left wing?

Boeser/Horvat/Puljujarvi

Baertschi/Sutter/Virtanen

That's the first I've heard anyone question JP's hockey sense. I watched him quite a bit this year actually because he is the prospect I covet the most. As far as positioning goes he was an A +. Passing and finding teammates = A +.

I don't know how to measure hockey sense but I consider that one of his major strengths from what I watched.

Has anyone else heard about JP lacking hockey sense before this?

No way this is happening. Us drafting Pool Party at 5 :o

This.

Only way we nab him is if JB pulls off some huge deal with CLB. They'd only need to drop a couple spots but would most likely still want quite an overpayment, which has already been discussed.

Hey come one now, lets think positively. A few pages back a poster mentioned how Sam Bennet was ranked #1 in North American skaters and fell to the flames. Stranger things have happened. There is definitely a distinct top 5, outside the Elite/Generational top 2. Picks 3-5 can be interchangable based on organizational needs.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love JP, just realize how unlikely it is, although t's not out of the realm of possibility. I remember watching Bennett drop and was praying he'd drop a couple more spots.
