Even if we come dead last we are not getting a #1 pick. NHL would never allow that.

It is tiresome constantly refuting these posts but I will do so again.

The NHL has no influence on the lottery process. A top independent law firm is hired to run the lottery process. This lottery is held in private with a representative from each team present to oversee it. This law firm has zero incentive to rig any lottery as the NHL is but one small client of theirs. They will not risk their reputation and hundreds of millions in revenue to influence something as insignificant (to them) as the NHL lottery.

One would think after last year's lottery that people would finally quit spouting this tired old narrative but it seems I have more faith in CDC's posters than I should.

You have to ask yourself what possible benefit did the NHL get in sending a generational talent to Edmonton. They could have just as easily sent McDavid to a number of choices much more attractive than Edmonton.

Like I said they aren't responsible for the lottery process, an independent firm handles it. It's not a question of trust, they have no hand in choosing the lottery winner.

I have Chychrun ahead of him but Joulevi and Dubois ahead of him is a big stretch. Nylander looks like a Nicklas Bäckström in the making. Joulevi and Dubois will be solid NHLers, Nylander has the potential to be a great one.

It was his mock draft right now but said it was still early and things will change. I am with you though about Chychrun or Juolevi, they would be the guys to fill a desperate need over Nylander who i like as well.

Just for those who were wondering what the odds are this year

The biggest winner seems to be the 8th overall pick

Kinda crazy how spread out the odds are

Edmonton-Gretzky

Pittsburgh-Lemieux

Edmonton-McDavid

Pittsburgh-Crosby....

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy, but damn....

They did in 1999. It was by trade, but still.

I thought we picked two and three in '99?  We traded McCabe to get the extra top three pick, so we could get both Twins?  Brian Burke was a genius to make that trade.  Now we need JB to do the same!  Like you said before: "Get 'er DONE!!!"

We had 1st but traded down on condition neither Sedin would be picked first overall.
