So your saying Juolevi isn't worth a top 10? Why? He is 17 years old running the PP and is also running the breakout out of the dzone on the gold medal winning team. He also made team canada look foolish on several occasions.

He was good but there was stuff that concerned me. I saw him make mistakes once there was some pressure. For example, on the PP he made two turnovers when the forwards started to close the gaps on him. And like I said, the d talent isn't as good as last year

Right now, these are the players I would take before juolevi:

Mathews, puljujarvi, tkachuck, laine, chychrun, gauthier, dubois, nylander, jost, bellows, brown, sergachyov

I wouldn't be completely dissapointed if the Canucks drafted a dman in the top 10. I just rather take a forward and then focus on dmen for the rest of the picks. If benning can get some picks for vets, I would hope he trades up to get a dman.

After the win tonight the Canucks are drafting 11 thats too low. need get drop 3 in a row to get back to 5 fifth

haha. hopefully some teams in the western conference tighten things up, and causes the canucks to slip farther and farther down the standings. c'mon top 3 pick...

He's not perfect, but he's an underage defenseman playing at an elite level. It doesn't look like we are going to get a top 5 pick. No matter how bad we are there are still lots of brutal teams under us. If we get say 8-10th pick and we land Juolevi, I'll be the happiest guy on this board. I'm not a pro scout, but this guy has all the tools, the IQ, and the right place to develop(London) His only knock is he isn't as physical as a guy like Chychrun but he's so smart he really doesn't have to be.

Juolevi was talked about well before the WJC. He has been great for London but was overshadowed by the forwards on London's PP. I think he will go top 10, he plays on one of the top teams in the OHL and possibly the best #1 PP units in the CHL. He will have ample opportunity to showcase his talent.

It will be a dog fight but I am still hoping for a top 5 pick. Oilers are the only ones in the west who will give us a fight. East is tougher as there are some very practised losers there.

We can do it and even get two top 5 picks.  We need to play guys like Higgins every game.  Putting Sven Baer in last game was just stupid on WDs part.  When you have guys like: Higgins, Burrows, Vey, Prust, Weber, you play them a lot.  That's what the experienced loser will do.

We won't be picking top 5 when all our players get back from injuries. Team is too good to get a top 5 but too trash to make the playoffs when healthy.

Will we ever be "all" healthy though...?

That's the question tbh

I doubt it. I'm willing to bet Hank (especially) and Dank are both banged up. Hansen clearly is now after leaving last night. I doubt Tanev's 100% either. Hamhuis is still a month+ away and may (hopefully) be traded shortly thereafter. Vrbata is hopefully moved towards the deadline as well. Miller's close but will probably take time getting back up to speed and given his age, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go down again.

We certainly get better with the likes of Sutter/Sbisa presumably back soon but I'm sure there'll be other/additional injuries to replace them.

I don't see us likely to have all hands on deck and healthy at all personally...

Time will tell but I wouldn't mind a top 5 pick

I think that assements accurate. Unfortunately that = spinning wheels! :(

Well boys and girls, with a very thin margin separating the bottom 14 teams in the standings and a new draft lotto system anything can happen from here to the end of the season and at the lotto.

right now we are looking seriously at a top 10 pick which will give us a great forward or dman.

Im hopeful we win the lotto and get a top 3 pick and pick up another first round pick where we could snag a dman like McAvoy or Bean

Both guys offer great middleish first round value!

Guys.

Chychrun will be an 'okay' defenseman.

I'd rather go for someone like Juolevi or Fabbro. Even still, there's no telling if any first-round defenseman will be elite.

Also, out of the two finns, I like Laine. Not that I would be disappointed with Jesse, but Laine fits JB's style of play more.

I like Laine and Juolevi a lot too. I have a feeling they will be gone when we pick. I like Mike Mcleod. He could be elite and he could be available when we pick. If we could get Jake Bean as well then I would be one happy camper. These two players would fit nicely with the team JB is building.

I feel like when Sutter comes back we will rise and maybe even make the playoffs with this abysmal division. We will go up in the standings, I don't see us going down unless we have even more injuries then we've already had.

That said. I am super high on Sergachev. I feel like Sergachev > Juolevi > Fabbro. In fact I'm on the D-hype train. One of Chychrun, Sergachev, Juolevi or Fabbro would be insane. And with this supposed fall of Chychrun (pff) he may fall to 5/6. :D With luck maybe we get him.
