I JUST GOT A FISH TANK. I LOVE THEM THEY ARE SOOOOOOOOOO COOL. BUT I PUT SIX IN ONE 20 GALLON TANK. 1 IS LIKE PRETTY BIG, I THINK HE IS A BOTTOM FEEDER BUT HE RIPS AROUND A LOT. 1 IS MEDIUM IT'S AN ANGELFISH HE'S CHILL. 4 ARE THESE LITTLE RIPPERS THAT JUST BUM RUSH THE SHOW REAL HARD.

OK BUT I HAVE A QUESTION. I'VE HAD THEM FOR LIKE 3 DAYS AND THEY BE CHILLIN REAL GOOD.

BUT LIKE EVERY TIME I TRY TO FEED THE BIG ONE IT'S BOTTOM FEEDER FISH PELLETS THE OTHER LITTLE NERGOS JUST GOBBLE IT UP. THE LITTLE ONES EAT ALL OF THEIR REGULAR FOOD TOO. WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THE BIG NEGRITO MUNCH UP HIS GOBBLY GOOS?

I really wanted to answer with:

"WHERE ELSE WOULD YOU KEEP THEM?"

And then, the afterthought was "no, mine is in the freezer".

But that would be lame.

I had a betta for 7 years ("Nazzy") but really know nothing about fish habits or requirements. I am interested in learning what the solution is though, so will stay tuned...good luck.

Bottom feeders do exactly that..feed off the bottom..you may think he isnt getting any food but he is eating all the algae and left over food that hits the bottom..dont over feed them thinking you are trying to feed the big one...they will be fine..if the big guy gets real hungry he will just eat the smaller ones..so all is good.

I'll go with the assumption your bottom feeder is a plecostomus. There's a pretty wide variety of them. Bristlenose and rubberlip are pretty good with algae, the common pleco is good when it's young but quickly gets lazy with the algae duties. You can buy algae wafers for them that sink. Your best bet would be to slip a wafer or half a wafer in the tank shortly after you turn out the lights. Plecos are typically nocturnal and have a better chance of getting food when it's dark. When it gets older and more comfortable in the tank it will become territorial and be better able to fend for itself.

It might be good to read up a bit on cycling your tank (has to do with building up bacteria that breaks down fish waste from ammonia-->nitrite--> nitrate). If your tank wasn't cycled before adding fish you'll soon see an ammonia spike that could kill off some or all of your fish. Frequent water changes are the best bandaid solution to keeping fish alive in a tank while its cycling.

It may also be good to research your fish a bit. Common plecos grow quickly and will soon be too big for your tank, Angels like height in a tank and a typical 20 gal is fairly short for an adult.

I hope that didn't discourage you, a well run tank can bring a lot of enjoyment. Best of luck with your fish!

that is sick.

I have a 90gal freshwater tank.

Really want to explore salt water when I get some extra cash. Other then my brine shrimp hatchery that is.

So many cool salt water creatures I want.

As for the op. What kind of fish are in the tank. Actual names. I have. Tank with a huge plecko (algae eater/bottom feeder) a huge cat fish from Thailand. A little cat fish I am not sure the species of. And some ugly convicts. They all get along some eat more then others.. Just make sure they have lots of hiding places.
