I have asked myself many time who is really is our number one defenseman, who is most important? Obviously I know our top 3, but who does CDC think it is. And further more what is the ranking from 1 to 8?

There are many factors...age, Offensive ability, defensive ability, durability, etc, etc....I would like to know what you think!

My list would be.....

#1.......Tanev.................age, defensive abilities

#2.......Edler...................age, Offense, size, defensive abilities

#3.......Hamhuis.............defensive abilities, size, leadership, stabilities

#4.......Sbisa...................size, age, potential, showing sign of putting together

#5.......Bieksa.................leadership, toughness,

#6.......Clendening..........potential, age

#7.......Weber..................offense

#8.......Stanton................dependable #6,7,8

#9.......Corrado...............young potential

#10.....Biega...................journeyman played pretty good while up

Not sure if I did the poll right, but maybe it will start to show if enough people vote. It's not set up properly, sorry.....any idea's?

Revised the Poll and made it a little easy....revote please...it should show us the ratings better, by elimination.

Thanks for playing!

My top 10 ranking of our defenseman:

1. Edler

2. Tanev/Hamhuis

3. Hamhuis/Tanev

4. Clendening*

5. Bieksa

6. Sbisa/Stanton.

7. Stanton/Sbisa

8. Corrado

9. Weber

10. ????

*I have really grown in love with Clendening. He's really calm with the puck and moves the puck extremely well. Easily one of the best younger defenseman we have on our roster.

Let's hope Clendening can groom into our top 4 permanently by next season's time.

We are still missing our future top 2 d-man.

1. edler is our gem of a star dman

2. hamhuis is slowing down due to injuries and his 4.5 mill contract should have him scoring more that zero goals but hes still better than tanev

3. bieska hardnosed hits fights provides more offense than hamhuis

4. tanev good positional, not very physical or offensive id trade him if he wants more than 3.75 let alone 5 thats rumoured

5. clendening mobile good passer offense will come eventually

6. corrado all round decent physical, passing ok chips in goals best all round young dma

7. stanton good plus minus takes bad penalties on occasion

8. sbisa hits like a frieght train. is an adventure sometimes in his zone yikes

9. hutton if he ever plays for us could launch up to 3/4 spot maxing out at a number 2 dman

10. pedan big mean big shot could be a 4-5 dman

11. subban in 2-3 yrs could be our offensive star dman time will tell hope he does well in utica

12. weber not sure why hes on team hes soft

Edler - hope he's just having an off year offensively; when he's on I think he could be like Ryan Suter (similar career p.p.g. average) so he should be the #1 given how he's the sturdy, all-round, minute-munching D-man on this team.

For the rest of them this is also my ranking:

2. Tanev/Hamhuis (the gap's getting smaller, but with Chris maturing while Hammer's in his 30's, Tan Man should be the #2 by a slim margin)

3. Clendening* (good puck-moving skills, safe player; hope he fills in the Top-4)

4. Bieksa (just because of his tenure I'd rank him as the top of the 3rd pairing guys)

5. Weber (safe D-man with offensive upside; ranked him above Luca because he doesn't make the same mistakes)

6. Sbisa (higher upside than Stanton)

7. Stanton (solid rookie season, hope he can rediscover his form and become a #5, like a safe Luca Sbisa)

8. Corrado (hope to see the offense)

*I have really grown in love with Clendening. He's really calm with the puck and moves the puck extremely well. Easily one of the best younger defenseman we have on our roster.

We need to keep everybody we have and add a damned powerplay quarterback.

It's a shamethe prices were so damn high at the deadline.

I don't think Edler is good enough to be a #1 anymore, I think his back is screwed up more than we know.
