Friday, March 13, 2015, 3:00 PM - A high energy drink created with water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear disaster: Sounds refreshing, doesn't it?

If you think the concept is absurd, you're absolutely right.

The phony digital campaign was created by three German artists in a bid to draw attention to an issue they're calling 'Fukushima Water.'

A powerful earthquake and subsequent tsunami in March 2011 crippled the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant, leading to the eventual meltdown of three of its six nuclear reactors.

Four years after the disaster, contaminated water continues to leak into the Pacific Ocean.

We were blown away by how weird it was that contaminated water is still being poured into the Pacific Ocean and that people have no idea, Kenzi Benabdallah, one of the campaign's creators, told The Guardian.

Hmmm... I'm wondering when they'll actually stop pouring contaminated wastewater into the ocean.

I am wondering if they intend on correcting the problem of pouring tons of radioactive water into the ocean. And if so, when?

It's a fairly large and unfortunate issue, but it is currently being worked on. It's a complicated problem, and there is no easy fix, but a substantial amount of money and effort is being expended.

Yes, there are issues with transparency, but it's ignorant to assume nothing is being done.

1000 tons is not a lot of water. The latest leak was 750, and mostly into the ground, and not expected to hit the sea.

If the contaminated water does hit the ocean, it's not very radioactive, and will spread far enough that it's barely noticeable.

Here's a decent source: http://www.cfact.org/2014/01/07/true-facts-about-ocean-radiation-and-the-fukushima-disaster/

Essentially, keep away from the local water(duh), but everywhere else should be totally fine.

I believe that the fake Fukushima energy drink campaign was put out there to raise awareness on the issue and that perhaps everything is not fine. Whenever there is lack of transparency, that is generally bad. However, we won't know until things like pacific rim cancer rates increase, but by the time any conclusive evidence arises there, reasonable doubt on whether it can be tied to Fukushima will be around too.

In the meantime, who doesn't like a good parody?

watch the last fukishima farmer on youtube on vice channel and youll realize how messed the situation is, if all the radiation keeps leaking. the oceans will be all dead by 2027 not even joking about that im not sure why the media is covering it up. It makes chernobyl look like a picnic. Wait five more yrs before a ton of people have serious cancer and thyroid issues. i really dont wanna give up eating seafood but i might.
