You Mad Bro?
Howdy. Pretty simple question. If you had to pick one, what would you choose. McDavid for the start of next season. Or a Stanley Cup at the end of this season. I would pick the cup. That way our core would celebrate it together. Also there is no guarantee one player brings you cups. Crosby 10 years with the pens. 1 cup. What would you pick!?!?

CanucksAtHome
Yeah, that's pretty obvious. Let's ask the question this way - losing in the Stanley Cup Finals (beating the Kings along the way) or Connor McDavid?
Madness
Stanley Cup.
Warhippy
why is this even a question? Even the GREAT one couldn't win a cup alone. His old team did, twice. in Edmonton and new York Cup every single time
Niloc009
Stanley Cup, no doubt, for exactly the reasons you listed.
thejazz97
Both. Mickey D first, cup(s) later. Imagine the damage we could do with McDavid.

avelanch
who wouldn't pick the cup? that's a stupid question. you want McDavid with the hopes that he would get you a cup, so why would you pass on a cup to take someone with the hopes that the MIGHT get you a cup... coryberg
McDavid and 4 cups. Then trade him for a huge return when he is 30 and win more cups.

VanGnome
I have to be the voice of the minority on this one. Saying things like even Gretzky alone couldn't win a cup, while true is an unfair comparison. It's an apples and oranges comparison. In today's day and age, a single player does not make a team, however it's less about having a dominant team and more about playing the averages over time. Getting a playing like Tavares, Crosby, Staal, Nash, McDavid... while will not single handedly win you a cup, it can significantly bump your chances of winning one or multiple cups over the span of a decade provided that the rest of the team in any given year is managed well enough to provide a great supporting cast around the all star player. To answer the question: McDavid, every time. We do not live in, nor does the NHL operate in a vacuum, so to come up with such an arbitrary comparison is unfair. So to answer the question, McDavid

Riviera82
Yeah, that's pretty obvious. Let's ask the question this way - losing in the Stanley Cup Finals (beating the Kings along the way) or Connor McDavid? McDavid. I dont want to see us lose another SCF before we've actually won one. That being said, I'd take a cup win this year over CM any day.
