McLellan: it won't help the Shark to "sit in a corner and cry"

The San Jose Sharks suffered another damaging loss last night, falling 5-2 to Winnipeg in a game they trailed 3-0 after just 13:01 of the first period.

According to Sports Club Stats, the Sharks' chances of making the playoffs something they've done every season since 2003 have fallen to just 6.8 percent.

Next up is Thursday's contest in Toronto, against a Maple Leafs side that's already been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

"We get on the plane, we eat, we review the game, we have a good skate tomorrow, we practice and away we go. There's nothing else we can do," coach Todd McLellan said following last night's loss, per the Mercury News.

"We can sit in a corner and cry if we wanted to, but that's not going to help us one bit."

It's estimated the Sharks will need to win nine or 10 of their last 12 games to grab a spot in the postseason. With nine of those 12 on the road, even against some bad teams like Toronto, it's a daunting task for a fragile group that seems destined for another tumultuous offseason.

Man, you can feel the pressure built up in that organization just about ready to explode any minute now! Such a talented team and yet they've disappointed year after year. The GM-Thornton thing really stirred the pot and it doesn't help the team hearing this in a crucial game they couldn't win:

...Sharks are pretty much in a similar hole the Canucks were in a year to a few years ago. Everything's boiling over and some sort of change has to be made do a new chapter can begin there cause right now, there's no way that current organization wins anything.

The Sharks this year are the Canucks last year. Tensions rising, missing the playoffs, in dire need of a management change. It's really hard to believe the Sharks wont be in the playoffs this year. Everyone had them as a lock to go at the start of the year. With the talent they have, it's unbelievable.

Even with NTC, i would still try and move Thornton and Marleau at the draft. They have an amazing bunch of young guys. A quick retool, and they will be fine.

Also...stop with the 3 Alternates.

Assuming Thornton and Marleau get traded:

C - Pavelski

A - Couture

A - Vlasic (H)

A - Burns (A)

They have been the most successful team since the lockout and have been going strong for almost 10 years now. All good things come to an end.
