Ronalds.Kenins41
I just haven't watched this literally since it happened. comparing 2011 Boston's defense compared to the 94 Rangers. Man the defensive play was so elementary back then. If the 2011 Canucks had to play the 94 rangers it would have been similar to the sharks series. We Are All Cynics
1994 Run>>>>2011 Run Had the better goalie in McLean (the Save!) rather than the mind boggling, hair pulling, inconsistent netminding of Luongo. Came back from two 3-1 deficits unlike the 2011 squad blowing a 3-0 series lead and 2-0 SCF lead. '94 SCF Game 7 at least the team showed up to play despite injuries. They didn't have their top three players and number one defencemen injured. They didn't have to go up against a extremely tight defensive and physical team. The rangers defense is like junior hockey style compared to Boston's. You can't compare the situations but I do I agree I enjoyed the 94 run more than the 2011 run cause being the underdog is always more fun and we had nothing to lose cause we weren't expected to even be there. Ronalds.Kenins41
Also the 2011 team outshot Boston by almost two to one in game 7 and had four times as many scoring chances. You can't say that they didn't show up to play. Only person who didn't show up was lu, all the goals he let in that game were all saveable thats what made 2011 so painful. The 2011 team had it way easier. We were the president trophy champs and dominated the league. They just choked in the finals. Injuries only played a small part cause we still should have been good enough to beat the bruins. They only scored 8 goals total and Luongo bombed in every game in Boston. It was a total gutless performance in that series after we went up 2-0. The 94 team was all heart and soul and never quit which is why they will always be remembered more fondly than the 2011 team. MoneypuckOverlord
we have to stop replaying 94 stuff. Unbelievable. Brings back painful memories. Until we win a Stanley cup, no more previous pain.

Hard to score more than 8 goals when 4 out of your top 6, your top three centers and your entire defense are playing seriously injured. Burrows and Daniel (who is nothing without Hank) were the only ones not injured. Both Hank and Kesler had serious injuries during the finals. Linden could still skate with his but Hank and Kesler had it way more serious than that, and it affected their skating abilities. Malhotra just came back from his eye injury and was not the same. Higgins and Raymond were not second liners. Hamhius was out and we had a rookie suit up for game 7 along with the a decimated d core. On top of that we were not facing a juniors/AHL defence like the 94 team did against the Rangers. The defence had arguably the best shutdown defencemen in the league matched up against the only hope we had (our first line with a injured Hank). Kesler was injured, as well. Samuelson was out. Ehrhoff, Edler and Salo were injured as well. What offensive weapons did we have left? Everyone was either injured or going up against the shutdown pairing. All we had were depth guys on the third and fourth lines. The lineup that won the Presidents Trophy was no where near the one that lost game 7. And you say we choked? I would say we choked if Hank, kesler, Hamhuis and malhotra were 100% and we blew the leads. Our fate was sealed when Hank and Kesler were injured before the series even began. Hank was shutdown against Nashville but it didn't matter cause we had Kesler. Kesler was shutdown against San Jose but it didn't matter cause we had Hank. But when both of them are injured and Hank is the more dangerous guy. All you have to do is put the shutdown pairing against them and your done. FireGillis
Presidents trophy winners? Injuries played a small part? Look man. If you want to play the injury card as an excuse for that chokejob, then by all means go ahead. If it helps you deal with the loss better, then fine. However, that's just an excuse for their poor performance in the finals. I'm not even sure why you're downplaying the rangers when they were the best team in the league that year with the 3rd best GAA in the league. The rangers were a much tougher opponent than the bruins. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/nhl19271994.html Were you even alive then? AHL/junior defense? Glad to know you think HOF Brian Leetch was AHL calibre, lol!
