Saskie
Has anyone built a decent Stanley Cup replica? I have been trying to find a 5 gallon water jug (pictured) for the base, but I can't find any without a handle and that would look ridiculous. Any ideas? avelanch
the ones without a handle are usually only available in business offices via a delivery service and are re-used. it's gonna be hard to find one of them nowadays. you could always head down to your local hardware store and try to find some stuff that resembles it. Master Mind
I built one out of a jug with the handle. Sure it's not perfect, but at least it's easier to carry.
Master Mind
Cut off the handles? Just cut the handle. Then there would be a giant indent in it, which doesn't solve the issue either.

I actually tried that but the paint wouldn't go on properly. Would just come off to the touch instead of sticking like it did to the plastic. avelanch
you'd either have to use different paint, or lightly sandpaper the surface of the poster board so it's not super slick/slippery and the paint can stick to it.

Haha I tried that too, but didn't work. I'm content with how mine looks (plus it already has names on it, as its used for a pool). Maybe OP would have more luck with that. Burlinbert
keep the handle it comes in use, if u want to carry it around. we made one and it lasted the whole playoff run. we smashed it to pieces when canucks lost in 2011
