Mackcanuck
Steve Nash @SteveNash 14m14 minutes ago I'm retiring from basketball. Thanks for all the love through the years. oldnews
Hard to believe he's retiring already. Class act. Look back fondly upon facing him in the UVIC gynasium back in the day when he was still a highschooler - had a few years on him then. Remember his high school coach writing to endless schools in the States, and only Santa Clara biting. What a meteoric rise to a remarkable career. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person imo. Represented like no other. Best of luck to Steve in the future.
-DLC-
I didn't really like basketball but he made me want to watch. Athletes who totally commit themselves to their craft are a pleasure to follow...he was one of them. Wish him a happy after basketball life. Jiggs50
2 time MVP! One of the best true pgs ever. Back in the day, Nash and Amare were unstoppable.
elvis15
ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo 16m At 6'3", Steve Nash is the only player shorter than 6'6" to win multiple NBA MVPs. Quality basketball player and a quality individual, great spokesperson for Canadians and I hope he still has a future building Canadian sport. Mackcanuck
There are 20 Canadian Kids playing in March Madness this week. 2 Canadian kids picked first overall in back to back years in the last 2 NBA drafts. I think if you talked to these kids, they would all tell you they were inspired by Nash! Ultimate role model
Lychees
Ive met him once at a whitecaps meet and greet and the guy is nothing but loveable, sad he never won a title but I'm sure he has nothing but respect from his peers, what a career

I thought of Nash as a Gretzky type player. Probably one of the best shooters who didn't shoot that much, because he was too busy making his teammates look like all-stars. I mean, he turned Stoudemire and Marion into the guys they were during their Suns years.
Canuck Surfer
Hall of fame, here I come! This man could back up any D, forced to honour his drive. Pop 3's from as far out as you could see... But it was his generosity dishing dimes like charity, it was all sooo easy. This is what made him legendary! And he took charity too! Nobody in history better at taking from the line they called free...
hockeyville88
Had the pleasure of meeting him last year. He's like a little kid. Such an infectious energy and spirit. And he was so humble. Couple of times I didn't see him there so he would come over and say hi to me. Congrats to him on a great career and best wishes for the future

Kran
He should suit up for the Whitecaps. Forget that, he just might be that PPQB that we need!
jovocop55
team would be still here if we got him from the start.. Former Mavericks personnel boss and coach Don Nelson was the first to take on Nash as a starter, trading a draft pick that would later turn into Shawn Marion for the Suns reserve in 1998 after Vancouver general manager turned down numerous requests to swap the Canadian-raised point man for Bryant Reeves. That's the kind of deal that in hindsight sinks a franchise. Big Country for Nash might just have saved the Grizz (and would have been one of the most lopsided deals in ages). the last outlaw
It's such a shame Nash didn't win a Championship or play in the Finals. He stayed too long in Phoenix and should have gotten out sooner and he might have won a championship, but Nash asking for a trade out wasn't in his character. He was loyal to the Suns. If Nash had been traded to Vancouver for Reeves he very well may have saved the Grizzlies, but I doubt he wins either of the back to back MVP's in Vancouver with how bad team was on the court.
