Season series: The Arizona Coyotes are seeking their third win in four tries against the Vancouver Canucks. Sam Gagner's shootout goal lifted the Coyotes to a 3-2 victory against Vancouver at Gila River Arena on March 5. It's Arizona's only win in its past 18 games.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver opened its two-game road trip with a 4-1 win at the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. Goalie Jacob Markstrom will get the start against the Coyotes after Eddie Lack made 25 saves to help Vancouver move four points ahead of the Kings in the Pacific Division. "It was a good comeback win for us, but it doesn't do anything unless we go hard in the next game," coach Willie Desjardins said. Forward Alexandre Burrows is questionable after taking a hit from Kings forward Tyler Toffoli on Saturday. "We'll have to evaluate him," Desjardins said. "He only had one shift [after the hit]."

Coyotes team scope: Arizona is 1-16-1 in its past 18 games following a 3-1 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Gila River Arena on Saturday. The Coyotes have scored 22 goals during that stretch. Goalie Mike Smith will start for a second straight night, according to The Arizona Republic. Smith made 34 saves in the loss Saturday. "It's a hard back-to-back for us," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "But they played a hard game in L.A. [saturday] afternoon. We've got to be ready to play at 5 o'clock [local time]."
