Should we trade Miller in the summer? [Discussion]

If you were GM of the Canucks, would you trade Miller and just go with Lack and Markstrom

Lack's statistics were padded by coming in relief for Miller(and 1 game for Markstrom) when Miller has faltered. When Lack was having an off night for whatever reason Miller never came in relief probably due to WD wanting to rest Miller.

Or perhaps Miller's stats were padded by not having to play the entire games he wasn't playing well, while Lack was left to fend for himself?

btw, who was sheltered by playing fewer back to backs and by not playing when both goalies had the flu?

I would be looking to move out Lack before Miller. In 2 years time, this franchise should have another goalie prospect ready. Lack should be worth a better return compared to Miller too.

Financially speaking, I'm not sure that we have the luxury of running with Miller another year.

Actually Miller not finishing out games actually have had a significant negative effect on his stats.

Example. Miller lets in 3 goals in the 1st on 10 shots. Miller gets pulled after the 1st. He is stuck with a .700 save % and a 9.0 GAA for that game.

If he finished out those games then his statistics would most likely be better. Teams usually let off the peddle with a big lead.

I think it is highly unlikely that Benning trades Miller. It would be an admission that he made a mistake. I doubt he is willing to do that so early, especially because Miller won't fetch a good return.

You seriously think that matters to him? Come on now.

Since Miller started game 5, I think we have the answer whether Willie wants to keep him.

Lack may have shown he is the long term future, but he also showed in game 4 that he needs a break every few games and for that, he needs a good partner.

All it showed is that the team needs to show up in front of him.

^^^Is a good point JR. Defense wasn't the same adventure in game 5 as in game 4. Still too many turnovers though. Fortunately, both teams suffer from that affliction.

Nice to see Bieksa bounce back. After game 4, I feared there was something seriously wrong.

I am hopeful that the Canucks have turned around their game and have a chance to make a series out of it.

Less pressure on the Canucks because nobody expects them to come back from being down 1-3 in the series.

More pressure on the Flames because if they lose and they have to go back to Van, they're in trouble.

Go Nux :towel:

I say we need to keep Markstrom. We would get a bigger return from Miller or even Lack. Miller has the hammer. If we can send him to California, then great. If not, then we should move Lack. We could get back a good player in a package deal.

Nobody here remembers that when Miller was a UFA, he was far from being a hot commodity. There were only 3 or 4 teams sniffing around him, Vancouver being one of them.

Miller's trade value is relatively low.

As to Lack's value, he's an inexpensive average goalie who may or may not get better depending on the quality of the defence that he has in front of him.

No reason not to trade Miller now. He isnt giving us anything Lack can't and for 6 mil he just isnt anywhere even close to worth it

He gives us cap space to sign free agents, that this team actually needs (PMD).
