Sapper
The BC Liberals are at it again - and once again the sheeple will praise them. Guess since people drank the coolaid on LNG this is how they are going to revise everything http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/3-changes-to-bc-liquor-stores-you-will-start-to-notice-on-april-1-1.3015012 From that article is the following 1. It will look cheaper, but it will cost the same Beer, wine and spirits will be marked at a lower price, but when you get to the till — April Fools — it will cost about the same as before. That's because right now, the price shown in BC Liquor Stores is the after tax price. The new tags will show the price before taxes. inane
I don't get this. They should include the tax in all costs so when you advertise something as 99 cents it actually costs 99 cents.
Webster6
So the government is in a way promoting drinking by tricking us into buying it because of illusionary discounts? Whatever, if the price isn't going up than I hardly care. Also if sheeple fall for/complain about the trickery, well.. let's just call you a silly goose. TOMapleLaughs
The best way to raise prices is through means like this, by taking away the immediate comparative. Reducing sticker prices at the same time is just an measurement to instill calm with the consumer. Bonus: You'll be able to raise taxes at the same time. Depending on the rate of increase, consumers may not even notice at the till. Gotta hand it to them. They did their research. I think Clark's gotta go, but as for the NDP, don't kid yourselves, they'd raise prices on us as well and would be quite in our face about it. Instant sin tax hike.
