Burrows not suspended for hit on Gaustad :Team 1040

I agree that the hit was not a major penalty nor should it have been a suspendable hit. However, it deserved a 2 minute minor penalty.

The thing that rips me off is, the Canucks are fighting for a playoff spot and the score is tied with four minutes to go. Burrows decides to interfer with a player at that critical time. Now i am and always will be a Burrows fan but in my opinion, there needs to be one hell of a better thought process go on in a players head at such a critical time in the game.

There was no need to hit Gaustad in that situation. Burrows needs to shake his head about that one and be glad that the rest of the guys kept their head to salvage the win. I think Burrows owes the team a dinner.

In addition, did Juice help the team either. Were his comments to whomever that got him a misconduct really necessary. He should pay for the dessert.

Very intelligent post. This is pretty much how I felt. I wasn't yelling at the ref personally. I was pssd at burrows for putting himself in that position. It was a very very stupid play. Oh well, things do happen fast out there , people make mistakes , an lucky for us we got the win. All is good in nucks land

Agreed on all points. It shouldn't have been a major, IMO, but it was a dumb play.

In fact (I made this same point in the Burrows thread) the Canucks were taking stupid penalties all game. Bieksa, (twice) Kenins and Burrows were all guilty of brain cramps that could easily have cost the Canucks that game.

Hopefully, Willie tore all three a new one after that game.

Agree with everything you three said. Also, I'm very glad that there will be no suspension.

A five minute major for a shoulder to shoulder interference penalty, and a gaggle of clowns wanted a suspension added on.

If you listen to Nashville's p.a., they announce 2 minutes interference and a game misconduct...

Interference is all that was.

I applaud the nhl this time. they got it right. what was happening was burrows was just going one way and gaustad just turned into burrows... burrows didn't run into him. now if burrows hit him with out gaustad turning around then ya it would be a suspension.

They showed a replay in the post game show. Juice skates over to Gaustad while he's lying on the ice and says something to him. Most likely, accusing him of embellishment. The zebra (can't remember which one) tosses him immediately.

Looked like a dirty hit after watching the replay a couple times. But since they didn't suspend Toffoli this makes up for it I guess.

Better look again then....... not intentional not dirty. Should not have been a penalty let alone 2 game misconducts FFS ! These imaginary calls are happening league wide on a nightly basis. The officials incompetence is growing by every game.

These ridiculous calls increase in frequency every year before playoffs so we will not be shocked in the slightest when they hand out 5,10 and a game to select players in select moments.

Thank God. Assuming Juice doesn't get any games, for once can say the league did it right.

...still can't believe there was a chance Burr would be suspended for bumping into a guy. What a joke

a joke ?the reality is elder was suspended for a very similar play on hertle sp? Except the kids actually had the puck..

So to Craig Button, interference is a suspendable offense? Talk about exposing one's bias against a certain player. The guy is an idiot that was so bad running a team, he couldn't get a job in hockey...TSN should be more selective in the garbage they hire to represent them.

Interference is suspendable doe

I know other sources are reporting it but everyone I've found is just using that one guy's tweet as the source. Has anyone been able to find another source that is independently reporting that Burr isn't being suspended?

I saw it on Global News this morning....Steve Darling.
