Daniel Sedin Should Be a Hart Candidate.

If you're going to call me a homer - read the facts first. If you still think it, then go ahead...

First of all - I'm not saying he should win it or be the first runner up. I think Ovechkin should and Crosby as the runner up (it could go either way but Ovy IMO is more valuable to his team). I am saying Daniel should be nominated and he's the Western Conference MVP. Although it would be nice to see him rob someone of it as he was robbed in 2011 when they gift wrapped the award to some random player... I can't seem to remember his name. I just know he's a certified rat. Anyways... Here are the FACTS:

Daniel Sedin is 15th in NHL scoring.

Aside from Jiri Hudler, he takes significantly less penalties than players above him in scoring and rarely shoots his team in the foot with an untimely penalty kill.

Is the leading scorer on his team that has rebounded from a horrible season last year. This in my opinion is a huge factor. He's led by example and PRODUCED. You didn't have to be Sherlock Holmes to know the Canucks would rebound and the Sedins would return to greatness with that Bostonian nut job fired and Willie brought in.

Averages almost 2 minutes less ice time per game than the other 4 candidates I have in my books: Crosby, Ovy, Getzlaf, and Tavares - Example: 2 minutes x 77 games = 144 minutes less ice time, in which he would have more produced more points. So being 15th isn't that relevant. He's producing huge numbers with less ice time than the 4 above players.

Leads the NHL in primary assists - is ahead of Crosby, Getzlaf, Tavares, Ovechkin. .. bet you didn't know that.

Primary Assist Leaders

Daniel 32

Getzlaf 31

Voracek 30

Crosby 29

Here's how I have it for the Hart voting - with Daniel being #1 in the West

1. Ovy

2. Crosby

3. Daniel

4. Tavares

5. Getzlaf

I haven't included Dubnyk, Price and Rinne. I don't think a goalie should win the hart unless it's a mind blowing season and the aforementioned goalies all have great stats, but not legendary.

Also Kudos to Hank as well obviously... but this year, I have Daniel as our MVP.

I'd personally argue that Vrbata has made the most positive impact on the Canucks this season. Not to say the Sedin's couldn't have had a bounce back year without him. I just don't think they'd have bounced back this much. He helped in the acquiring of a lot of there points in the first few months, as well as power play points throughout the whole year. Plus imagine where this team would be without his 31 goals. No one else has hit 20 yet. Sure our scoring has been pretty well balanced throughout the year. But Vrbata has been the outstanding game breaker imo.

Daniel has shown this year that he can blind pass with the best of them including Henrik... some of those no look passes to vrbata, Henrik and others this season are impressive. While not a Hart candidate, its nice to see him get his mojo back this year.

HAHAHAHAH love it! Hadn't seen that one before.

Anyways I'm absolutely baffled by the responses here. I should have expected it since I've been called homer for a long time. Been called a homer for saying we'll finish second... The sedins and edler aren't done... Etc etc. I'm sure had someone else made this topic, it would be taken more seriously.

Fact is Daniel has more primary assists than anyone in the NHL. Fact is he's done this with 2 minutes less per game than his counter parts. Fact is Daniel is a Hart candidate.

I really would love to have seen the replies if someone aside from myself posted this. Because I guess I'm a homer... W.e

I mean, homerism aside, why do you have him playing less minutes than other people as a benefit for him winning the Hart?

All that tells me is that he doesn't need to be relied on as much as the other people on this list. Where the Capitals have Ovi on the ice because he is a game changer, or the Pens have Crosby on the ice as he is a gamechanger, the Canucks don't need to have Danny out there because he just doesn't have the same impact the other Hart candidates do. Not like he used to.

I honestly don't think Danny would win a Hart if they handed it out to 10 people this season. Heck, I'd give it to Vrbata before him.

I love Danny, but he is not Hart material this season.

I can agree that Daniel has been the best Canuck, but I'd be shocked to see him higher than 10th in Hart voting. Personally, Price is the runaway winner for me. He's by far the best goaltender and there haven't been any outstanding skaters this year.

I don't think Danny was robbed of a hart in 2011. He won the scoring race, but at the same time, the Canucks were so well built in 2011. He didn't carry his team as much as the little ball of crap Perry did, as much as it pains me to say. This year, the Hart should go to Ovie, Price, or Dubnyk IMO. Daniel's 15th in scoring, and my goodness he's had a good bounce back year, but Vrbata is our MVP this year. He's been the best free agent signing of anybody this summer. I think Vrby should be ahead of Danny.
