Undrafted
Didn't he keep toronto out of the red? Guy might like to party and I can't fault him for the "all you can eat P****" but if he does his job and keeps his private life private this time; who cares??? Actually, the notion that Ford was "fiscally responsible" is an outright lie, something that was well-documented during the most recent municipal elections in Toronto. He was handed a budgetary surplus from the previous regime and like the federal conservatives, proceeded to squander it immediately. He pretty much threw away $65 million over the cancellation fees by unilaterally nixing "Transit City", a public transit renewal plan for the entire GTA that had federal and provincial funding already approved. As for his posting to the HHOF board: this is a guy who's been ejected from the ACC for inappropriate behaviour (that is, being drunk and disorderly), is an unapologetic misogynist, racist and homophobe, who's been caught on video using inappropriate language among young children (which is the least of the things he's been caught on video doing). Is that the kind of person any hockey fan wants associated with our sport's Hall of Fame?

Gollumpus
Yes that Rob Ford. Toronto City Councillor Rob Ford has been appointed to the Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum’s board of directors. Museum spokesman Kelly Masse says that Ford was elected to the board for the first time at a member’s meeting on March 25. Masse says Ford won’t be on the committee that selects inductees to the Hall of Fame. Councillors Mark Grimes and Stephen Holyday were also elected to the board during the meeting. Ford said in an interview on Saturday that he has a lot of experience in the hockey world and wanted to help promote the sport to children. Ford also said he played hockey when he was younger and that he would do anything he could to support the game throughout Canada. “When people call me they know they’re getting someone that’s experienced,” he said. “I’ve got season tickets to the Leafs and I’m obsessed with hockey and obviously football but hockey’s my number one sport and I’m going to try to just keep pushing it.” Ford said he had already had his first meeting with the board and is in the process of being sworn in along with his fellow councillors. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/rob-ford-appointed-to-hockey-hall-of-fames-board-of-directors/article23798668/ The new HHoF theme song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK8N6DjJccc regards, G. apollo
I think Elliot said on CBC or maybe it was George during hnic that this was appointed through the city of Toronto and the nhl had nothing to do with it.

Fizzure
Hes obviously qualified so whats the problem? Hes a bit of a goof. Hes got normal people problems. He doesnt lord over constituents but rather is down in the trenches mucking it up with them. Good for him. Hes a pretty caring individual and obviously wears his heart on his sleeve. Problems with guys who wear their hearts on their sleeve are they often have epic failures to go along with epic successes. Burrows my favorite player ever is one of these guys. His heart makes him great and makes him cross the line. Its price you pay. Rob Ford is great at his job but he has problems. Describes everybody I know. If hes your childrens role model you are not parenting correctly.
16ToWin
How is he obviously qualified? Show me any statement or facts showing his qualifications? "Cuz I played hockey" Guess I am a shoe in for next years board... I played hockey too!!
Fizzure
Well he did get the job. I mean it wasnt for publicity reasons. Im fairly certain hes reasonably competent for whatever tasks they have in store for him. How about you show me the evidence that he was nominated on the merits of having played hockey and not based on a myriad of other factual information. Nurf Herder
What an absolute joke. Nothing says hockey like a drunken crackhead politician. I would think that for sobriety's sake, he'd lay low and focus on self for awhile. The limelight is not what this character needs. Let the games begin. He's the greatest thing to happen to Canadian politics since Chretien... And I loved him in Tommy Boy
